On March 19, 2026, the Responsible Energy Initiative Philippines launched six prototypes to help shape the future of renewable energy, one that is ecologically safe, rights-respecting, and socially just.
Developed through cross-value chain design sprints, these prototypes aim to unlock the full potential of the energy transition, transforming how renewable energy is planned, financed, and deployed across the Philippines through to 2027.
Over 150 leaders from government, industry, civil society, and finance came together, not just to discuss challenges, but to co-create pathways forward. What emerged is a shared recognition: a responsible energy transition is an opportunity to design better systems from the ground up.
The six prototypes reflect this mindset shift:
🧭 RE Compass: an interactive digital tool that overlays RE potential with ecological and social risk data;
📍RE Hub: a pre-competitive innovation platform to prototype multi-land use and marine spatial models that allow energy generation to coexist with agriculture, fisheries and ecosystem restoration;
🤝 Co-Own Energy Futures: a testbed for legal and financial structures that enable host communities to own a stake in RE projects;
💰 Responsible RE Capital Orchestrator: a financing mechanism that unlocks and coordinates capital flows towards systemic innovations that advance ecologically safe and socially just deployment of renewable energy;
🏦 Rural Bank Mentorship (“RE Collab”): a program that equips rural banks to integrate ESG risks into their lending portfolios; and
⭕ Circular RE Futures: a research-enabled participatory futures process that aims to provide an innovation agenda for policymakers, innovators, and businesses
Together, these represent practical steps toward an energy transition that is only fast, but fair, inclusive, and in harmony with nature — and that is the new norm.
