Guest Host Daniel Summerbell, Co-Founder & Chief Solutions Officer at Gigaton and WCA Member, talks to Wei Rushan, President of the WCA and Vice General Manager of CNBM Group.

Mr Wei reflects on his own route into the cement industry and looks back to the WCA’s beginnings in 2016 and its achievements over the first ten years. He shares his perspective on how the industry has changed over the past decade, from COVID-19 to supply-chain disruption and the accelerating push towards net zero. Finally, looking ahead to 2036, Mr Wei considers where the biggest transformations will come from and what he hopes both the cement industry and the WCA will have achieved by the time the association reaches its 20th anniversary.

The WCA concluded its 9th General Assembly (GA), held virtually on 21 July. The GA brought together representatives from WCA Member organisations to review the Association's achievements over the past year, approve key resolutions, and discuss priorities for the year ahead.

The GA opened with welcome remarks from WCA President, Wei Rushan, during which he highlighted the WCA's 10th anniversary and paid tribute to the Association's founding vision of creating the world's first international organisation dedicated exclusively to the cement industry. Looking ahead, Mr Wei described the WCA's first decade as an important milestone and encouraged members to continue working together to address the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.

"A decade is a milestone, not an ending point. As one of the oldest building materials in human civilisation, cement is still evolving and innovating today. I look forward to continuing our journey together. Let the WCA not only witness the history of our industry, but also create a better future," expressed Wei Rushan.
