We’re incredibly proud to see our CEO, Bob Clarke, named as a finalist for Charity & Change Employee of the Year at the Black Talent Awards 2026! 🏆

This recognition celebrates the dedication, leadership and impact of individuals working to create meaningful social change and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving.

At MAMA Youth Project, Bob continues to champion opportunities for young people from underrepresented backgrounds, helping open doors into the TV, film and wider creative industries. We’re proud of the difference he continues to make and the lives he helps change along the way. ❤️

We’re into Week 3 and our Birmingham cohort are getting deeper into the world of studio production! 🔥🎬

From camera training and set design to production scheduling, working with editors and learning from industry guest speakers, our trainees have been getting hands-on with the different roles and processes that bring a studio production to life.

It’s been a week of learning, collaboration and putting those skills into practice and the trainees are continuing to build the confidence and experience they need to take their next steps into the media industry. 🎥

A huge shout out to Prime Video Pathways for partnering with us on this programme and to Birmingham City University (BCU) for providing the space and supporting our Birmingham training.

There’s so much happening at MAMA Youth Project this month, including the launch of our Birmingham Studio Production Bootcamp, where we welcomed an incredible new cohort of young creatives ready to begin their journey into the media industry. 🎬

We’re also shining a spotlight on one of our successful Birmingham alumni, Dan Nash, who shares his inspiring journey and experience with MAMA Youth Project. His story is one you won’t want to miss.

🎙️ Sound is half the story.

Behind the scenes with our sound recordist trainer Thomas Gee, as he takes our Birmingham Production Studio trainees through the world of production sound.

From getting hands-on with professional sound equipment to understanding different microphones and how to capture clean, quality audio on set, our trainees are learning the skills needed to make sure their productions sound as good as they look. 🎬🎧

Hear from Thomas about his experience working with the cohort, alongside behind-the-scenes footage of our trainees putting their new skills into practice.

🖤 Remembering Jason Arday

This week, we’re taking a moment to remember Professor Jason Arday and the impact he made through his work, knowledge and commitment to sharing and exploring Black British history.

Some time ago, we had the privilege of working with Jason alongside Licklemor Productions on an item exploring Black British history. After filming, one of our trainees took the opportunity to ask Jason a few questions behind the scenes as you see in this clip. He generously shared even more of his knowledge and insight.

For our trainees, moments like this are about more than simply being on a production. It's about meeting people who can broaden their perspective, challenge their thinking and leave them with knowledge that stays with them forever.

Thank you Jason for taking the time to speak with our young people, for sharing your knowledge so generously, and for helping create space for important conversations around Black British history.

We’re grateful to have captured this moment and to be able to share a small piece of his wisdom with our community.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, students and everyone who has been touched by his work. ❤️

At MAMA Youth Project, we believe young people deserve access to the skills, opportunities, networks and support they need to build successful careers and shape their own futures.

Through practical training, industry experiences, mentorship and connections with leading organisations, we help young people from underrepresented backgrounds develop the confidence and skills to enter and thrive in the creative industry. 🎬

From our London programmes to our new Birmingham Studio Production training, we’re creating pathways into TV, film, digital media and beyond and supporting young people to see what’s possible. 👁️

Today, we celebrate their creativity, ambition, resilience and potential.

Our Birmingham trainees are getting hands-on with vision mixing, learning how to manage multiple camera feeds and make the split-second decisions that bring a live studio production together.

As part of our studio production training delivered in partnership with Prime Video Pathway, our trainees are gaining practical, industry-focused experience across all areas of production.

And they're doing it right here in Birmingham City University, where the cohort gets access to fantastic studio facilities and a real production environment to develop their skills. 🎥

🎬 Another day, another production skill unlocked!

Our Birmingham trainees have been getting hands-on with the technical and practical sides of studio production over at BCU.

We were delighted to welcome Vision Mixer Maria Needle, who took our trainees through the world of vision mixing, giving them an insight into how multiple camera feeds are managed and brought together during a live production.

We also welcomed TV Producer Melanie Stanley Birks, who delivered a session on floor management, sharing the skills and knowledge needed to keep a studio production running smoothly.

From the control room to the studio floor, our trainees are getting a real taste of what it takes to bring a TV production to life. 🎥🔥

A huge thank you to Maria and Melaine for sharing their expertise and helping our trainees build their confidence and production knowledge!
