Feedback like this is a reminder of what practical, consistent support can mean to someone when they're going through a difficult time.

Behind every piece of advice, referral or conversation is a person trying to find a way forward.

We're proud to be there for people when they need us – and grateful to those who make that work possible.

💚 If you’d like to support our work or help us reach more people, get involved.

Migrant-led organisations hear first-hand about the challenges affecting the communities they work with.

When the same issues keep coming up – across housing, employment, healthcare or accessing services – that insight can help identify where wider change is needed.

Through Lead to Change, we want to bring that knowledge together and strengthen the collective voice of migrant-led organisations across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Our first Lead to Change meeting is coming up on Thursday 3 September.

We’ll be bringing migrant-led organisations together to start identifying the shared issues we're seeing across our communities and where there is an opportunity to act collectively.

If your organisation works with migrant communities across Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland, there’s still time to get involved from the beginning.

Starting a business is one thing. Getting through the early stages and building something sustainable is another.

For this entrepreneur, support included registering with Companies House, choosing a business name, enrolling in accounting classes and using our offices as an incubator while their care-sector start-up became established.

Their experience points to a wider need we see through our work: people within migrant communities have the ideas, skills and ambition to build businesses, but practical barriers can make getting started much harder.

That’s why access to the right guidance, skills and early-stage support matters – and why these experiences need to inform how entrepreneurship support is designed and delivered.

What we learn through frontline work shouldn’t stay on the frontline.

Every day, our casework and projects give us direct insight into the challenges people are facing.

When the same issues appear repeatedly, they can point to something wider than an individual case.

That insight helps us identify recurring barriers, build evidence and bring those experiences into conversations with partners and decision-makers.

Supporting people remains at the heart of what we do. But we also want what we learn through that work to help influence what needs to change.

We're launching Lead to Change – a new network bringing migrant-led organisations across Leicestershire together around the issues affecting our communities.

Through regular meetings, we'll share what we're seeing on the ground, identify common challenges and turn that knowledge into collective action.

That means developing shared recommendations, producing community insight and engaging with partners and decision-makers to influence better services and policy.

🤝 If you're part of a migrant-led organisation supporting local communities, we want you at the table.

This International Youth Day, we're thinking beyond opportunities for young people to the role young people can play in shaping them.

Across our work, we support young people and families, connect people with opportunities and hear first-hand about the barriers affecting their lives.

But listening should lead somewhere.

We're strengthening how we use those experiences to identify wider challenges, work with partners and influence the services and decisions that affect our communities.

Young people's experiences are part of that evidence, and their voices should be part of the action that follows.

We're pleased to have received positive feedback from Leicester City Council's Public Health team following our community health events in Hamilton and Highfields.

Working alongside refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant communities, we provided multilingual health information, supported GP registrations and helped people better understand how to access NHS services.

The feedback recognised the value of trusted, community-based support and the personalised approach our team delivered throughout the project.

Thank you to Leicester City Council for their partnership, and to everyone who took part.

One issue we're hearing more and more is the challenge of finding safe, secure and affordable housing.

When the same concern keeps coming up, it's something we need to pay attention to.

This is the first in our What We're Hearing series, where we'll share the themes emerging through our work and why they matter.

💬 Is housing a challenge you've noticed in your community too?
