Leicestershire LGBTQ Centre We are voluntary organisation championing the rights and supporting the wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

We provide information in a range of formats on a wide range of subjects that affect LGBT people's lives including signposting and referrals to other agencies. We aim to provide safe, accessible and appropriate services, venue and support to combat social isolation, exclusion and discrimination that LGBT people face. We also aim to promote a positive environment that empowers those who are le***an, gay, bisexual or transgender and educate those who are not.

October is Black History Month!

We wanted to highlight the powerful words of one of many pioneering LGBTQ+ writers and thinkers, Audre Lorde.

Self-described "Black, le***an, mother, warrior, poet", Audre Lorde, wrote and spoke extensively about how race, class, gender, and sexuality are all linked and cannot be treated in isolation from one another. This would later be coined 'intersectionality' by Kimberley Crenshaw, a scholar and civil rights advocate.

💜 We’re recruiting!

Join Leicestershire LGBTQ+ Centre as our new Domestic Abuse Counsellor, helping LGBTQ+ people access compassionate, confidential and affirming support.

📍 Leicester (in-person/hybrid)
🕒 8 hours per week, normally one day (flexibility across two days may be possible)
💷 £18.64 per hour
📅 Fixed-term contract until 31 July 2027

We’re looking for a qualified counsellor with experience supporting people affected by domestic abuse, trauma or other significant interpersonal difficulties, and a commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and inclusive practice.

We particularly welcome applications from LGBTQ+ people, people from Global Majority backgrounds, trans and gender-diverse people, disabled people and people with relevant lived experience.
