The Nishter Kidney Hospital is one of only 3 specialist kidney hospitals in Afghanistan. The hospital is facing a severe funding crisis, rendering it unable to serve patients effectively.

The Hospital is unable to provide food to its patients, let alone medical care.

The population of Afghanistan is now facing a humanitarian catastrophe. More than 50% of the country suffer from insufficient food consumption.

23 million Afghans face acute hunger, with 9 million one step away from famine. (WFP) 1 Million children are at risk of starvation!

Every few seconds a patients enters the regional hospitals all over Afghanistan. One in five children admitted to critical care die. Since January 2022 approximately 13,000 newborns have died from malnutrition and hunger-related diseases. 95 percent of the population do not have enough to eat.

The healthcare system in Afghanistan is on the brink of collapse. Hospitals are overwhelmed, under-funded, short-staffed and under-resourced. Patients cannot afford treatment or even the journey to the hospital. After hours of travelling on rubble roads the hospital that they reach maybe dysfunctional.

Our team has identified 8 rural clinics, 2 hospitals and 1 regional hospital in Nangarhar province which need support. In addition, there are thousands of sick and destitute requiring treatment who cannot afford to even see a doctor. Muadh ibn Jabal Welfare Trust has setup a medical fund which will be used to assist patients to travel for treatment, obtain medication and undergo treatment or surgical procedures.

This fund will enable us to provide immediate and urgent help to patients who would otherwise go untreated and possibly die.
