Have you ever thought about becoming a Trustee for a local charity?

As defined by the Charity Commission, 'charity trustees are volunteers who lead a charity and decide together how it is run. They are responsible for making sure their charity does what it was set up to do.'

The Charity Commission suggests that trusteeship can help you:

> bring your passions to life – use your skills to make a difference to a cause you care about
> play a crucial role in the charity sector – help deliver a positive impact to those in need and across communities
> develop skills in leadership, problem-solving and decision making
> expand your professional network and enhance your career prospects

Our team has been busy at various events this summer including an Age UK brain health information event at Braunstone Civic Centre and the Peepul Centre Health Fitness & Mental Wellbeing event.

Reaching People is celebrating its 15-year anniversary with a landmark event titled ‘The Power of Us: Transforming our Community’ on 10 September 2026.

We'll be bringing together members, founders, funders, civic leaders and partners to reflect on the consortium’s collective achievements and set out an ambitious vision for the next 15 years.

To mark this 15-year milestone, Reaching People is hosting a keynote address from Danny Sriskandarajah, one of the most respected voices in global civil society.

Was great to see everyone at our Reaching People member CEOs meeting this morning at The Belmont Hotel in Leicester. Good discussions about the current opportunities and challenges for the local VCSE sector, and a chance to say farewell to our great supporter and outgoing CEO of Leicestershire Cares - Kieran Breen, on his last working day for the charity!
