Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) is both a philosophy and an approach to working together as a community to reduce crime and enhance community safety. By working together, neighbours can assist each other to reduce crime in their area. This can make your neighbourhood a safer place to live, reduce the fear of crime in your area, and improve lifestyle by sharing responsibilities and caring for others. YARN relies on our community and the Police working together in a partnership. Our Objectives are to:
Minimise the incidence of preventable crime. Deter criminal activity by increasing the probability of apprehension. Increase the reporting of crime and suspicious behaviour. Improve the degree of personal and household security through education. Expand the program's involvement in wider community safety and crime prevention initiatives. Our Strategies are:
Keeping residents informed: Providing information of the incidence of crime in Rawdon and Yeadon on a regular basis through our 'real time' community blog, and newsletters. We also advise how to effectively identify suspicious people and activity and report same. Increasing residents' awareness and knowledge: Informing residents of practical personal and household security enables them to best secure their homes and increase their personal safety. Sign posting areas: Displaying Neighbourhood Watch signs and material operates as a visible deterrent to criminal activity by identifying a particular area as having active Neighbourhood Watch participants. Free Bike Marking at Horsforth Green Festival

Come and visit us at the Horsforth Green Festival and take advantage of our FREE bike marking service.

We are aware of posts on Facebook reporting theft of electric bikes in the Yeadon area. However, we have not yet received any official reports.
If you have been affected, witnessed anything, or have information that may assist, please make a report online or by calling 101. If there is an immediate risk to life or a crime in progress, please call 999.

Whilst on patrol in Guiseley, officers dealt with a vehicle that attempted to avoid police.

Checks confirmed the vehicle was uninsured, and the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Appropriate action was taken, and the vehicle was seized.

Officers in Otley have seized this bike following several reports from members of the public over the past few weeks.

🚓 Yeadon Tarn – 28/04/26

Officers seized a Surron at Yeadon Tarn following ongoing concerns about public safety. This was the second time the same bike has been seized, and it will now be sent for destruction in line with procedures.

Our priority is keeping parks and shared public spaces safe for pedestrians, families, and other legitimate users. Taking action against repeat offenders helps reduce the risk of injury and ensures everyone can enjoy these areas safely.
