We’re reflecting on how our Bereavement Resource Pack project has developed over the years, over on the blog. It’s a project that we knew would be welcomed by local schools and that we’ve developed and tweaked over the years based on feedback from schools and families.

The packs include a series of books that we know support schools to help children understand death and bereavement, and to process what it means for them. The packs also include activity ideas and information for the schools and families.

As bereavement education has become mandatory as part of RSHE from September 2026, we know these packs will become even more valuable than ever for many schools across Coventry and Warwickshire.

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers at Carlsberg Britvic who recently spent time preparing our Bereavement Support Packs.

These packs are provided to local hospitals to give to families when someone has died. They contain practical information and resources to help parents and carers support children and young people through bereavement in those early days.

Every pack takes time to put together, and the care our volunteers put into preparing them helps us make sure families receive something useful and supportive at a very difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who helped us get these packs ready to go out into the community.

Where has the last week gone? Last Thursday we had a lovely day at our most recent volunteer induction.
We can’t wait to see our new recruits stepping into volunteering roles across the charity over the coming weeks.

We're delighted to receive this fantastic donation of £650 from Coventry Canal Society following their Lock Wind Day fundraising event on 6th June.

A huge thank you to everyone who organised, supported and attended the event. Your generosity and community spirit will help Guy's Gift continue supporting bereaved children, young people and families.

Helping children understand what to expect when attending a funeral or visiting a burial ground can make a difficult time a little less overwhelming.
