Explorers is a space where all of us belong, but nobody has to fit the mould. This is having a go, learning, making, growing – our way. Growing in confidence. Growing in resilience. Growing the skills we need to thrive.

Sending out best wishes to all of the young people getting their exam results today. I would cross my fingers for you, but then it would be hard to type!

We’re really proud of Hannah, who, next year, will travel to Poland to volunteer at the World Scout Jamboree.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

I am sure those of you with mobile phones received the UK Government Emergency Alert earlier.

There is a high risk of wildfires in England and Wales at the moment.

Lighting fires and cooking over open fires is a big part of Scouts, but for the moment we need to be very practical and keep everyone safe.

Do not do anything that might start a fire. This is an exceptional circumstance and we need to protect ourselves, our young people and our environment.

For now, there are to be NO OPEN FIRES at either of our Activity Centres - Littledale or Silverhelme.

If you have activities planned, please review your risk assessments and take sensible precautions. We will try to keep everyone up to date when we know more and as Government advice changes.

Thank you for all that you do.
