Q***r by Gum is looking for volunteers to help create a new installation as part of Festival of Dissent at the Gregson on Saturday 5th September.

Throughout August, artist Max Cunningham will be collecting short stories, reflections and acts of everyday dissent from people across Lancaster District. Then it’s over to us.

Together we’ll imagine creative ways for these voices to live throughout the Gregson during the festival.

Think hidden messages, stitched words, unexpected discoveries, tiny moments of surprise and care. No previous artistic experience needed - just curiosity, creativity and a willingness to make something together.

Visions in Vogue and Vinyl: An Exhibition and Archive of Local LGBTQ+ History with Q***r By Gum CIC.

Visions in Vogue and Vinyl is an ever-evolving, collective archive highlighting important LGBTQ+ memories, venues and spaces in Lancaster and surrounding areas through the ages.

This exhibition is interactive.

We hope the exhibition will grow with your contributions to document the rich history of Lancastrian LGBTQ+ nightlife, socials and activism.

Drawing from inspiration in the room: Buildings, Zines, Newsletters, Posters, Fashion, Music and more, we invite you to contribute to our exhibit.

The Exhibition will take the format of an ever-evolving archival timeline, highlighting important LGBTQ+ venues and spaces in Lancaster and surrounding areas through the ages, dotted with the art, craft and fashion shared by the public.

Want to get involved? We're inviting people to contribute photographs, posters, clothing or accessories you’ve made for a night out, comics, poetry, art, short stories, songs and interviews!

Also be published in a zine after the exhibition.

Q***r By Gum proudly stands alongside our asylum seeking and refugee friends! In love and solidarity ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💜🩷

We had the best day at Lancaster Pride! 🌈 RAIS's LGBTQ+ group for refugees and asylum seekers made a huge banner that they carried at the parade. We even met another LGBTQ+ asylum seeker who joined in carrying the banner who is ao excited to join our weekly social group.

This is why visibility matters so much; RAIS is proud to stand alongside our asylum seeking and refugee friends and tell them: You are welcome here! 🌈🧡

Radical Q***r Craft Exhibition Workshop

We were joined by wonderful local illustrator and artist Shakthi Nataraj on the Saturday afternoon (21/02/26), who facilitated a fun workshop ‘Make Your Own Comic Strip’ to allow us a moment to reflect on the craft we’d seen in the exhibition and illustrate our own experiences of the event!

This exhibition marked just one moment in our year-long journey of workshops, skill-sharing, and making together across the North West.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their work with us, and made it unforgettable! We hope to curate more in the future! Keep on keeping on (and keep crafting!)
