Ryelands Community Connect is a welcoming space to bring local people together, build friendships and strengthen community connections.

Our Community Health Officer Jenny recently joined Phil Reddell, North Lancashire Reserves Officer, for a visit to the Hope Bench at Middleton Nature Reserve...

It was lovely to hear that the bench has already received such positive comments from regular visitors to the reserve. Sometimes, having somewhere peaceful to sit, take in your surroundings and enjoy a moment of calm can make a real difference.

A big thank you to Lancaster City Council for installing the bench, and to Lancashire Wildlife Trust for hosting it and looking after the beautiful natural surroundings that make this such a special spot.

The Hope Benches are part of the work of the Lancaster District Adult Mental Health Forum, helping to create welcoming spaces for reflection, connection and conversations about mental wellbeing across our district.

💷 Funding opportunity £1,000 unrestricted grants
The easyfundraising.org.uk Impact Fund is back for a second round, with 15 unrestricted grants of £1,000 available to UK not-for-profit organisations.

✔️ Grants have doubled from £500 to £1,000�
✔️ Previous applicants can apply again!�
✔️ Funding is unrestricted, so it can be used wherever it's needed most

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, but looking after our mental health and each other, matters every day 🫶🏻

This year’s focus on lived experience is an important reminder that people should not only be heard, but have a genuine voice in shaping the support and services that affect their lives.

Across Lancaster District, many local charities, community groups and volunteers work quietly every day to support people’s wellbeing. From offering a listening ear and a place to belong, to helping people through some of life’s most difficult moments. That work matters.

At Lancaster District CVS, we believe that Help is Close. Whatever challenges you might be facing, whether it’s your mental health, finances, relationships, bereavement or simply feeling overwhelmed, there are local organisations ready to listen and help.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this morning at The Torrisholme Methodist Church for our MP Questions event.

It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout from leaders and colleagues across the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector. The room was full of passion, honesty and commitment to making a difference in our communities.

We had insightful and thought-provoking discussions on a wide range of topics, including youth work, education, health, housing, funding, devolution and much more. There were powerful questions, genuine emotion and a shared determination to improve outcomes for local people and our communities.

Our special thanks to Lizzi Collinge MP and Cat Smith MP for giving their time, engaging with us and responding so openly and thoughtfully to the questions raised. Your support helped ensure that the voices of people working on the frontline of our communities were heard and valued.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended and contributed. Events like this demonstrate the strength, expertise and passion that exists across our sector and the importance of continuing to work together to create positive change.
