Our has been supported by Bridge the Gap to stock and sell organic produce without passing the cost onto the customer.

People want organic produce because it's better for them and the planet. Sustain's NEW Bridging the Gap report looks into how this can be achieved on the consumer end.

We know at Alchemic Kitchen that one way is to drive fresh produce directly to communities with our mobile greengrocer.

When added a £1 optional donation to their diners’ bills – it was about showing up for the communities around them.
That kind of backing means can keep doing what it does: bringing fresh, affordable seasonal produce to neighbourhoods across Liverpool and Knowsley, with flexible ways to pay and recipe ideas to go with it.
Those pounds added up to an amazing ÂŁ1,343.71 donated recently. A brilliant reminder of what happens when local businesses choose to be part of something bigger.
Thank you Manifest. Thank you to every diner who said yes!

We’re hosting a Disco Chop and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Come chop, cook, eat, and dance with us on Saturday 18th April, 1–3pm at Sub Rosa. We’ll be turning pulses, kale, cabbage, and some very ripe fruit into a full feast: curry, samosas, fresh flatbreads, and pud. All DJ soundtracked to disco music.
We call these ingredients Cinderella veggies. Overlooked, underestimated, often doomed for the bin. Not anymore!
This event is open to all ages. We’re hosting it in the run up to World Disco Soup Day 2026 a global celebration of cooking together and wasting less.
🎟 Tickets in bio (or search Disco Chop on Eventbrite)
📍 Sub Rosa, 3 Kings Dock St, Liverpool

Our food system is controlled by supermarkets!
These supermarkets - which account for over 95% of the grocery market - have immense control over the UK’s food system. Their decisions shape how nearly
all food sold in the UK is produced, distributed and consumed. Learn more
Everyone should have access to healthy, nutritious and affordable food. Supermarkets should sell healthier,
more sustainable food. Customers should be encouraged to buy better food. Both these things should reduce food waste, and local communities, farmers and independent food businesses should thrive.
This would make sure everyone has access to healthy
food, farmers are treated fairly, and our food system
is stronger.

WL Meets: Lucy Antal, on a mission to bring fresh food to the UK’s “food deserts”. Nick Easen catches up with Lucy Antal, at the frontline of food justice in the UK. Read the full interview
“The most fundamental misunderstanding of those in power is this idea that supermarket chains are altruistic and will therefore do the right thing without regulation – this is never going to happen.”

“Decisions are made by shareholders including overseas
private equity. They are purely interested in profit making.”
