Our Story
Around 4 years ago the local team Leek Town wanted to become charter status that means catering for all, so they needed a structured junior set up, A ladies team who are surpassing all expectations. The job to get a disability team fell to Dennis Bates who with the help of Kerry Impey, raided the local special needs schools for players. Kerry's son Jordan, Matt Steer, Adam Kingston, Tom Neil, Grant Leese and John Goldstraw were a few of this new team.
After Dennis stepped away from football and Kerry retired due to poor health the team hit chapter two of the story. Kerry became the honorary president, John got his brother, Anthony, to join and Grant got his brother, Mitch and with them came their parents Dave and Sue and Nigel and Lorraine. Although the team played in the Staffordshire league before this it was only a half attempt. missing games due to inability to get to the pitch and other problems but this time it was a full assault. Leeks biggest problem is geography. we are at the most northerly point of the county. Our nearest rivals, Stoke City, are 15 miles away and the rest of our “local” teams, Lichfield, Cannock, Whirly and Norton all just off the A5 and are closer to Birmingham than us. With the new board in place, a new shirt sponsor. Staffs Housing became Your Housing that introduced us to the dynamic duo Gavin and Kelvin who pushed our team forward.
At this time we lost our long-serving coach Tom who was replaced by Patrick but we were now committed to the Staffs FA league where we came 4th. The next year we had a first for Staffordshire by starting a ladies team with Alice, Leah, Millie, Jenny, Natalie and Megan. Sadly with no other teams to play they disbanded but Millie and Jenny still play as the teams are now mixed but would like to get the ladies team up and running again. With start of the ladies team came the parents Samantha and Derek who took on logistics with connections to Leek Gateway we use their minibuses and at this point Tom Neils dad Dave came in as the spare driver.
The next chapter is expansion. We need a junior team and a second adult team. We have players from Buxton, Newcastle Harrisihead Biddulph and Biddulph Moor and Cheadle
