Around the world in 80 days... and from Keswick to Newcastle-under-Lyme!

For this , we're celebrating three familiar faces currently travelling the globe in Around the World in 80 Days at New Vic Theatre: Purvi Parmar, Kiara Nicole Pillai and Michael Hugo.

🌍 **Purvi Parmar** appeared in our 2023 production of Around the World in 80 Days, where she played Captain Blossom and a host of other memorable characters. Since training at Pace University School of Performing Arts in New York, Purvi has built an impressive theatre career, including productions such as Alice in Wonderland, The Book Thief and The Jungle Book.

🌍 **Kiara Nicole Pillai** joined us in 2025 in Pride and Prejudice, playing Charlotte Lucas and Miss Bingley. Originally from Singapore and a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, her theatre credits include The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and Along the Silk Road.

🌍 And **Michael Hugo**, who many of you will recognise from last year's The Wizard of Oz, is also part of the cast. Michael is a familiar face at New Vic Theatre, where his many credits include The Grand Babylon Hotel, One Man, Two Guvnors, Marvellous and, fittingly, a previous production of Around the World in 80 Days.

We love seeing artists we've worked with continue their journeys on stages across the UK, and it's especially lovely to see Purvi, Kiara and Michael all sharing the stage together.

If you're near Stoke-on-Trent, there's still time to catch them, but be quick, the production finishes tomorrow, Saturday 20 September!

πŸ“Έ Swipe to see them in their current adventure and on the Theatre by the Lake stage.

Tonight, the candles are lit, the wigs are powdered, and the stage is set...

A huge break a leg to the cast, creatives, musicians, stage management, wardrobe and technical teams of Nell Gwynn as they celebrate Press Night at Shakespeare North Playhouse.

Jessica Swale's Olivier Award-winning comedy brings to life the remarkable true story of Nell Gwynn, an orange seller, actress, trailblazer and one of the first women permitted to perform on the English stage following the Restoration of the monarchy.

From sumptuous costumes and towering wigs designed by Jess Curtis, to live music, dancing, wit and a company of multi-talented actor-musicians, this production is a joyous celebration of theatre itself and the woman who helped change it forever.

We're incredibly proud to be co-producing this production alongside Shakespeare North Playhouse and Storyhouse, and we can't wait to welcome the company to Keswick when the production arrives at Theatre by the Lake from 9 July – 1 August.

Here's to a wonderful Press Night and many standing ovations to come.
