One of the world's largest embroideries. A journey through the Quaker influence on the modern world

The 77 vibrant embroidered panels were made by 4,000 men, women and children from 15 countries between 1981 and 1996, making Quaker Tapestry one of the worlds largest international embroideries. Journey through the Quaker influence on the modern world: explore the industrial revolution, developments in science and medicine, astronomy, the abolition of slavery, social reform, and ecology; and delight in the detail of the stunning needlework and the craftsmanship involved in its creation. Quaker Tapestry Museum is in Kendal town centre, close to the bus and rail station. Our carpark is currently closed to visitors due to building works but many public car parks are close by.
