⭐️Breaks our hearts 🥰

When you used to think you had all the answers 😢😢😢
Last night was absolute chaos on the streets -we had many early prison release clients that had been released yesterday with no where to go, one poor guy was laying on a bench crying he was very vulnerable and released with nothing in place and straight onto the streets with nothing and no idea what to do. Another from huddersfield released in Leeds and signed to Leeds probation but obviously being from Huddersfield cannot access any support for housing as no local connections. The list went on, but the most disturbing encounter was a young girl and her partner we came across - he had not slept for two days as he was keeping an eye on her, she was in a wheelchair her hands were crooked and she had a hamster in a cage on her knee, she had cerebral palsy, scoliosis and autism amongst other things and they were planning on sleeping in the train station. He was so tired and beside himself he was in tears. Apparently she was given a hotel but had a seizure and forced to leave as she was high risk and now her boyfriend is not wanting to leave her side. We absolutely could not leave them to go sleep in the train station so we booked them into a hotel and I personally met up with them after outreach to make sure they got safely into their room. I have arranged to meet six clients this first thing morning at Abi house from last night and hopefully we can find out more information on each of them and hopefully none of them will have to spend another night on the streets.
We are truly out of answers at the moment and we are really struggling as everybody is. We have noticed a massive decline in donations and are struggling with funding and the demand is so huge and we are not seeing a way out. Our numbers have easily doubled and we are constantly having to think of ways to make cut backs
This week is out first week of not doing cheesecakes which our clients absolutely love but actually costs us over £25 a week which is over £100 a month - money that could be spent on sleeping bags and we have also had to stop taking out sweetie bags to try and cut back. It’s heartbreaking that this has to be done because why shouldn’t they have some treats to look forward to.
My point is -we are out of answers, we always thought we could fix the problem but when things become unfixable what do you do ?????
