Let's BeFriends Lets BeFriends. Together we can break the cycle of homelessness Our befrienders help through friendship and support.

Let’s Be Friends is a new project set up by the Lancaster Homeless Lived Experience group and funded by the National Lottery. Its aim is to get together people with lived experience in our own communities to befriend people who are currently homeless or who have left the streets recently. They make it easier for those who have experienced homelessness to begin the really difficult job of rebuildin

g their confidence in making social connections and becoming members of their local community. The project trains primarily (but not solely), members of the community with lived experience of homelessness. Please get in touch if you are interested in volunteering.

If you live in a mobile home and you have a low income, you could get benefits to help with rent or pitch fees.

Depending on your personal situation, you could claim:

> the universal credit housing element
> housing benefit

Do not be put off by people who say it is wrong to claim benefits.

You're allowed to apply for benefits to help with your rent if you need to.
