A half-term adventure to remember!

Our Young Carers braved the wind and rain yesterday to make their way to Blackpool, where they were wowed by some fantastic sea creatures at SEA LIFE Blackpool.

The weather might not have been on their side, but that didn't stop them from enjoying a brilliant day out and discovering the wonders of the underwater world.

The VR Experience added an extra-special dimension to their visit, giving them the chance to walk with polar bears and snorkel with sharks!

A big thank you to all the staff at SEA LIFE for helping make the trip possible and giving our Young Carers the opportunity to enjoy some fun, adventure and time together during half term.

CARER COFFEE MORNING - Come and join us!

On Monday 16th November between 10am and 12pm at Stricklandgate House in Kendal.

If you’re an unpaid Carer, why not pop in for a cuppa, a natter and the chance to meet others in a similar situation?

It’s an opportunity to take a little time for yourself, have a friendly chat and find out more about the support available through Carer Support South Lakes.

You’re very welcome to come on your own or bring the person you care for – it’s entirely up to you!

No need to book in advance, just pop in when it suits you and stay as long as you like. We’d love to see you!

Our PARENT CARERS SUPPORT GROUP starts again TONIGHT!
.. offering a friendly, informal space to meet other Parent Carers who understand.

It's a chance for a cuppa, a chat and the opportunity to share experiences, support one another and take a little time for yourself. There’s no pressure to share anything you don’t want to – just a chance to connect with others who understand what life is like.

The group will meet every 3rd Tuesday and Wednesday of the month at Stricklandgate House.
Tuesday: 6pm–7.30pm
Wednesday: 10.30am–12 noon.

🌟Make someone's day by becoming a VOLUNTEER with CSSL🌟

Volunteering with Carer Support South Lakes is a great way to give something back to your local community and make a real difference to unpaid Carers.

Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare once a month, your support could help a Carer feel more valued, less isolated or get a much-needed break.

Volunteers are at the heart of our support services and the great news is that you don’t need professional training, just an understanding attitude and a willingness to help.

❄️WINTER AT SIZERGH – FREE ENTRY FOR UNPAID CARERS❄️

We’ve kindly been given 50 free family passes to Winter at Sizergh, giving unpaid Carers the chance to enjoy a little festive magic this coming season.

The event includes a light and sound trail, a Georgian festive house and seasonal crafts – something to enjoy together as a family.

Each pass admits one unpaid Carer, one other person and up to three children. The passes are single-use physical cards and can be used on any day between 20 November and 24 December 2026.

For unpaid Carers, finding time to do things together as a family or with friends can be difficult, so we hope these passes will give people the chance to take a break from the usual routine and enjoy something special together.

💥THEY SMASHED IT! 💥

Just over a week ago, our fabulous fundraising runners raised over £1,800 for Carer Support South Lakes at the Manchester Half Marathon.

A huge thank you goes out to Nathan, Kirby, Laura, Mary, Todd, Lee, Jordan and Mark for taking on the challenge and smashing it!

Without the support of our local community, we couldn’t continue to offer vital respite services to unpaid Carers of all ages across the South Lakes.

Whether it’s taking on a fundraising challenge, organising an event, volunteering your time, making a donation or simply sharing our posts, there are lots of ways to support CSSL and every bit of support helps us make a difference to the lives of unpaid Carers.

A big thank you to everyone who supports us in whatever way they can. We really couldn’t do it without you! ❤️

RUNNING TO FUNDRAISE FOR CSSL

This Sunday, 4th October, 11 amazing local supporters will be taking on the Manchester Half Marathon to raise money for Carer Support South Lakes and the unpaid Carers we support.

5 of our runners popped into the office yesterday to say hello, so naturally we took the opportunity to grab a photo before they head off to Manchester!

Nathan, Kirby, Laura, Todd and Mary were there in person, while Jordan, Craig, Lee, Mark, Beth and Tina couldn’t make it along – but they’ll all be on that start line on Sunday morning, ready to run their socks off!

We’re so grateful to each one of them. Taking on 13.5 miles is no small challenge, and they’ve already put in hours of training, early starts and plenty of miles to get themselves ready.

Now all that’s left is the big day!

🤝 Find out how you can support a range of local organisations including Sight Advice South Lakes Carer Support South Lakes St John's Hospice, SSAFA, NSPCC The Armitt Museum and North West Air Ambulance Charity and make a real different to South Lakes.

OUR PARENT CARER SUPPORT GROUP IS BACK!

We’re delighted to be relaunching our Parent Carer Support Group in October.

If you’re a parent or have parental responsibility for a child or young person with additional needs, a disability or a long-term health condition and provide them with unpaid care or support, this group is for you.

It's a chance to meet other Parent Carers, share experiences, have a chat and enjoy time with people who understand the caring role.

There will be 2 sessions each month; a daytime and evening option, led by our volunteer, Jenny. See attached Support Group Poster for venue and time information

Whether you’ve joined us before or would be coming along for the first time, we’d love to welcome you.
