💙 A Friendly Face Makes All the Difference 💙

One of the highlights of today’s drop-in was spending time with one of our long-standing visitors. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him, and it’s always wonderful to see how much he values the opportunity to come along, have a chat, and connect with others.

Social engagement is so important. It helps combat loneliness, provides routine and purpose, and reminds people that they are part of a caring community. Our volunteers don’t just offer support—they build relationships, share laughter, and create meaningful moments.

Sometimes it’s the simple things—a warm welcome, a friendly conversation, and a cup of tea—that can make all the difference.

It’s these connections that make our drop-ins such a special place to be, and we’re proud to provide a space where people feel valued, supported, and included. 💙

Carers Week comes to a close! 💙

Our final event of saw Helen and John visiting our friends at The Memory Tree CIC in Keighley for their wonderful “Time Together, Time Apart” session.

With today’s theme centred around picnics, there was plenty of conversation, laughter and reminiscing as we all tried to encourage summer to finally make an appearance! ☀️🧺

Helen and John spent time with carers in the “Time Apart” group, providing a safe, supportive space where carers can talk openly, ask questions, share experiences and connect with others who understand the challenges and rewards of caring for a loved one.

We have always enjoyed being part of these sessions and value the warm welcome we receive from everyone at The Memory Tree. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

As Carers Week 2026 comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank all unpaid carers. Every day, often without recognition, carers give their time, energy, patience, compassion and love to support family members and friends. The difference you make is immeasurable.

Throughout this week we have had the privilege of meeting and speaking with many carers across our communities. Your dedication inspires us, and we remain committed to ensuring that carers know they are not alone and that support is available when it is needed.

Thank you for everything you do, not just during Carers Week, but every single day. 💜

💙 Carers Week ……..continued!

Today was a busy but rewarding one for the Keighley Dementia Advice team as we took part in two fantastic events supporting

Helen attended an event at Gargrave Village Hall, where a wide range of local organisations and support services came together to offer information, advice and support to unpaid carers. It was wonderful to work alongside AWC Modality Partnership, Carers' Resource, Dementia Forward and NYCC, as well as many other local services.

Meanwhile, our team was also at Airedale Shopping Centre, joining the Specsavers Community Cuppa Club and several other organisations in raising awareness of the vital role carers play in our communities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, shared their experiences, or found out more about the help available. Carers provide invaluable support every day, and Carers Week is an important opportunity to recognise their dedication and ensure they know they are not alone.

💙 Carers Week Continues… 💙

As part of Carers Week 2026, we’ll be out in the community again tomorrow, attending two fantastic events and raising awareness of the support available to carers and people affected by dementia.

☕ Lesley will be at the Specsavers Community Cuppa Club, in the Airedale Shopping Centre enjoying a brew and chatting with members of the local community.

🤝 Helen will be at Gargrave Village Hall for an advice and information morning alongside a range of local organisations, including Carers' Resource, AWC Modality Partnership and Dementia Forward

These events are a great opportunity to meet local services, find out what’s available in your area, ask questions, and make new connections.

If you’re attending either event, please do come and say hello—we’d love to meet you! 💙

Together, we’re helping to build stronger, more connected and carer-friendly communities.

Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging, and sometimes it helps simply to meet others who understand.

☕ Meet our team and volunteers
💙 Chat with other carers who may be in a similar situation
🤝 Make new connections in a relaxed and friendly environment
📖 Find out about local support and services if you wish

There is no need for an appointment and no pressure—just a warm welcome and an opportunity to take a little time for yourself.

Because carers need support too.

We look forward to seeing you.

💙 Carers Week 2026 – Building Carer Friendly Communities 💙

This week is Carers Week 2026, and we are proud to add our voice in support of the millions of unpaid carers who work tirelessly every day.

This year’s theme, “Building Carer Friendly Communities”, is one that resonates strongly with us. As a community-led group, we know how important it is that carers feel recognised, valued and supported within the places they live.

Throughout the week, we’ll be out and about across the Keighley and Craven area, connecting with carers and raising awareness of support available:

☕ Wednesday – Our weekly drop-in at Keighley Library, with a special focus on welcoming new carers for a coffee, chat and information about local support.

☕ Thursday – We’ll be attending TWO events the Specsavers Community Cuppa Club and later a community information event at Gargrave Village Hall, showcasing services available to local people.

🌳 Friday – We’ll be volunteering at The Memory Tree, supporting the wonderful Carers “Time Apart” group.

If you are an unpaid carer, whether you’ve been caring for years or have only recently found yourself in that role, we want you to know that you are seen, appreciated and not alone.

Keep an eye on our page throughout the week as we’ll be sharing more information about these events and celebrating the incredible contribution carers make every day.
