🖼️ David Hockney (1937-2026)

The Bradford born artist has passed away today aged 88. He was an important figure in developing the pop art movement of the 1960s, and a titan of modern art. He championed local art and artists, and helped to put Bradford on the map as a creative hub.

Each city has had a poster created by a unique artist, showcasing the cities, culture, and football associated with that place.

Graphic design and art have been an integral part of the competition over the past 96 years, and this year is no different.

⚽Artist Spotlight: With the World Cup just over a week from opening, we thought we would share some important art from environmental photographer - Mandy Barker.

Mandy Barker is an environmental photographer that transforms ocean waste into art to raise awareness around plastic pollution. ‘PENALTY’ was a series where 992 marine debris balls were recovered from the world's oceans in just 4 months. It was a collaborative project with members of the public.

“PENALTY is a punishment for breaking a rule in the game of football, and in relation to this project, PENALTY is the price we will all pay if we do not look after our oceans.”

🪨 It’s been 1 year since Rombald’s Rocks hit Keighley!

Rombald’s Rocks: Keighley Sculpture Trail was a collaboration between Keighley Creative and local artist and illustrator Leonie Briggs in May 2025. She wanted to create a community art project that involved local people and would bring something positive to the town:

“Mr and Mrs Rombald have been throwing rocks again and one of them has shattered into 10 pieces. The bits of rock have sprouted legs and arms and run away to Keighley to embark on their own adventures.”

📣 The project was made possible by funding from BD25 Creative Communities Fund and Keighley BID. 402 people attended the launch of the trail with over 2,000 people taking part in the project overall. We hope to continue to make fantastic projects like this one once we get to the new building!
