Competitor information for point awarding shows 2027/28

To be eligible, shows must meet the following criteria:
1. Champion Classes
Champion classes must be held in the following four categories:
• Pure Breed
• Spaniel & Setter
• Hand Strip
• Poodle (any size)
If the Poodle category is split into two size classes, the judges from both classes must agree the overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings from the combined entries. These results must then be submitted to the show organiser.
If these four Champion classes are not held as separate classes, the show will not be eligible to award Groom Team England points.

2. Champion Judges
There must be a minimum of two recognised Champion-level judges assigned to each Champion class.

3. Show Organisers

Show organisers are responsible for managing entry numbers and ensuring competitors comply with coat growth requirements.

If the same dog is entered at shows held less than six weeks apart, the show organiser/ head judge must examine the dog before judging begins to determine whether there is sufficient coat growth for the competitor to achieve a visible change. If there is insufficient coat, the entry may be penalised during judging.

Groom Team England (GTE) is not responsible for low entry numbers, disputes or discrepancies between organisers and competitors regarding show dates or coat growth eligibility, or any resulting disqualifications. These matters remain the responsibility of the show organisers and the competitors concerned.

4. Minimum Competitor Numbers
A minimum of three competitors must compete in each individual Champion class on the day for points to be awarded.
If fewer than three competitors are present:

• No points will be awarded for that individual class.
• However, if the class winner progresses to and wins Best in Show, they will receive the applicable Best in Show points.
• Points will still be awarded in all other qualifying classes.

Groom Team England and show organisers cannot be held responsible for competitor absences affecting class numbers or point allocation.

5. Points Allocation
• 1st Place – 5 points
• 2nd Place – 3 points
• 3rd Place – 1 point
• Best in Show – 2 additional points

6. UK Affiliated Shows
The following UK shows have been invited to become Groom Team England Point Awarding Shows for the 2027/2028 cycle:

• The Grooming Show
• The Welsh Grooming Show
• Premier Groom
• Cymru Groom
• Premier Groom Elite
• Great Scot Grooming Show
• Master Groom
• Groomphoria

Please note that Groom Team England cannot be held responsible for incorrect or incomplete information supplied by show organisers.

7. EGA Shows
All officially recognised EGA-run shows held outside the UK will remain point awarding events.
However, competitors are responsible for submitting a completed Points Claim Form within 14 days of the competition.
Failure to submit the form within this timeframe will result in no points being awarded.
The form is available via the Groom Team England website. https://www.groomteamengland.com/ega-competition-placement-results/
The committee has the right to confirm any completed forms with the show organiser.
