What does it take to end cruelty to animals and wildlife in the name of ‘sport’?
In our Guest Editor feature, David Bassom from the League Against Cruel Sports shares the organisation’s work to protect animals and challenge the hunting, shooting and abuse of wildlife across the UK.
The scale of commercial shooting is staggering. Nearly one third of UK land is used for shooting, and approximately 61 million non native game birds are released each year. Many face poor living conditions, while wildlife such as foxes and birds of prey can also be targeted to protect game bird populations.
From campaigning to end the shooting of game birds and the use of cages and snares, to calling for stronger protections for wildlife, the League shares why change is needed and how we can all help create a future with less cruelty to animals.
