Day 6 — Veterans Among Us
As we prepare for tomorrow’s Falklands remembrance service, today we turn our thoughts to the veterans who walk among us.

Some served in the harsh winds and rugged terrain of the South Atlantic. Others served at sea or in the air, facing dangers that shaped the rest of their lives. Many carry memories they rarely speak of — moments of courage, loss, and loyalty that remain with them still.

Their strength, dignity, and quiet resilience continue to inspire our community.

Today, we honour them with gratitude and respect.

Day 5 — The Islanders
As we approach Friday’s Falklands remembrance service, today we turn our thoughts to the people of the Falkland Islands.

In 1982, they lived through fear, uncertainty, and occupation — yet their resilience never faltered. Their gratitude to those who came to liberate them remains one of the most enduring legacies of the conflict.

The islanders’ courage was quieter but no less profound. Their strength, their hope, and their unwavering belief in freedom are woven into the story we honour this week.

Today, we remember them with respect and solidarity.

Thankyou for your continued support.

Day 4 — The Cost of Conflict
As we move closer to Friday’s Falklands remembrance service, today we pause to acknowledge the profound cost of the conflict
Behind every name etched in memory stands a family who waited, hoped, and grieved. Comrades lost friends they had trained, served, and laughed with. Many who returned carried wounds — some visible, many carried quietly for years.

The impact of 1982 did not end when the fighting stopped. It lives on in the stories, the silences, and the enduring strength of those who served and those who loved them.

Today, we honour that sacrifice with sincerity, gratitude, and respect.

Day 3 — Stories of Courage
As we continue our countdown to Friday’s Falklands remembrance service, today we reflect on the remarkable courage shown throughout the conflict.

Courage was found in every corner — in the infantry advancing across unforgiving terrain, in the sailors facing relentless danger at sea, and in the aircrews carrying out missions against overwhelming odds. It was also present in the quiet determination of medics, engineers, and support teams who worked under pressure few can imagine.

These stories remind us that bravery is not only found in moments of action, but in the steadfast commitment to duty, to comrades, and to the mission. We honour that courage today.

A huge thank‑you to the final two volunteers of the day — the brave souls who stayed on just as the weather decided to unleash its dramatic finale. Reports say it went from “a bit wet” to “biblical” in minutes. And, of course, the biggest surprise of all… the branch chairman even made an appearance. Truly a day of miracles.

Despite the truly dreadful weather, our branch members were out today manning the information stand at the Ashford & Folkestone Military Show. Rain, wind, sideways rain — they faced it all with commitment, resilience, and the kind of good humour that only comes from wondering whether you should’ve brought a boat instead of a gazebo. We couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented us.
