This is Chris Jaggs and he lived here, Dove House Farm in Mistley, Essex. His daughter remembered he had a secret radio hidden in a dugout on the farm.
Part of Auxiliary Units Special Duties he would disappear into the wood. As you can see it is still a good spot for comms today.
Anyone know anything more about Mistley spies in WW2?

This is the beautiful Eye Manor in Herefordshire. Used as Auxiliary Units HQ by the Intelligence Officer and owner Christopher Sandford. It is recorded that there was an underground passage that led from a trapdoor in the floor of the inner hall via the basement to the far side of an ancient outbuilding.
Anyone know anything about this. We would love a look.

Isn't this just a cracking photo? This is Charlie Holmes from Brandon patrol in Norfolk in his First World War uniform. Can anyone tell us what uniform he is wearing?
Many thanks to Rob Carman for this wonderful picture of his Great Uncle Charlie.

Thanks to Chris Perry we have the service record of Lawrence Strangman and it appears he was connected with Auxiliary Units almost all the way through.
He first joined the Scout Section in Kent then became an Intelligence Officer in Somerset then on to Suffolk. He left around the time of stand down due to an injury. We don't know what happened to him but he spent time in hospital and it led to him having to relinquish command.

Anyone know what happened to him?

Canterbury Festival. 28th Oct. Alistair Moffat is giving a talk on "Assassins and Secret Listeners". Andy Chatterton and obviously CART are mentioned in the credits of the book (well we are the world authority!).
Let us know how it goes if you attend as we don't really know Alistair.

Historian, writer and former director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Alistair Moffat, tells the half-forgotten stories of ordinary men and women here in Kent and around the UK who found their own ways to fight against the N***s from home.

This time John Wareham hasn't lived up to his nick name "Bodge".
The shield on the memorial stone at East Creech, Dorset was looking a bit sad so I have removed from the stone removed the old colour and cleaned, polished added some new colour and encased in clear resin.
Will remount in the next few days and hope it will last a few more years.
Cracking job John

When service records state someone is "specially employed" and "ceases to be paid from Army funds" they are up to something secret.
This is Captain John Mulgrave (Downes) Martin MC. Thanks to Chris Perry we now have his service record along with his SOE record. Some of it is difficult to read so if you can help where we have ? please leave your ideas below.
He had an interesting war. He may have been involved with The Shetland Bus
