It’s (15–21 June 2026), led by Mencap with the theme “Do you see me?”
We, Carers in Hertfordshire, recognise the vital role carers play in supporting people with a learning disability or other care need, and offer chances to connect, share views and experience, and influence services. For example, tomorrow, Thursday (18th June) you could join our online Learning Disability & Autism Focus Group, 1.30pm–3.30pm, to share feedback for Hertfordshire’s Co-production Boards.
We’re also hosting a Health Event on Tuesday 14th July, 10am–1pm in Ware. Get information and advice on topics like diabetes, dental care and specialist support.
Book via our website (listing in events section) or call us Carers in Hertfordshire.

“Caring has taught me to slow down and be patient.”
Soteris cares for his mum, supporting her at home with cooking and cleaning, personal care, and attending appointments.
After connecting with Carers in Hertfordshire as a result of attending a local event, he found support through a Carers Café and one of our Hub groups.
His story highlights the resilience of carers and the importance of support networks.
📖 Read Soteris’ story on our website. If you’re caring for someone, and you or the person you support is in Hertfordshire, get in touch to discuss how we can support you - email [email protected] or call 01992 58 69 69.

As part of , today’s national focus highlights the important role businesses and services play in supporting unpaid carers. We’re grateful that many Hertfordshire-based businesses show their appreciation for carers by offering them discounts and special deals through our Carers’ Passport service.
One of these is soft play centre Get Wild! in The Galleria, Hatfield, where carers with our Carers’ Passport card can access 30% off (exclusions and rules of play apply).
Get Wild! is a jungle-themed adventure area for children aged 1–12, packed with slides, tunnels, climbing frames, a dedicated toddler area, and more, where grown-ups can relax while children have fun in a safe, exciting environment.
Contact Get Wild! on 07810 868591.

Deborah is a distance carer for her elderly mum, who continues to live independently. Through caring, Deborah has learnt the importance of patience, being considerate, and reading between the lines to understand when support may be needed.
Her story is a reminder that caring can take many forms and that even from a distance, the support carers provide can make a real difference.

After discovering Carers in Hertfordshire through their GP surgery, Freya found support while caring for her husband, who lives with a brain injury and ongoing back problems.
Through Make a Difference funding, Freya was able to take part in a baking course - something she describes as therapeutic and a chance to focus on herself for a while.
Freya's story highlights how important it is for carers to have opportunities to rest, recharge, and do something they enjoy.
To see what upcoming events we have for carers to take time for themselves head to the 'Events' section of our website.
