What a fantastic afternoon at our Introduction to Golf sessions at Hanbury Manor this weekend! ⛳☀️

With the sun shining and the course looking its best, our young people enjoyed the perfect conditions to develop their golfing skills, build confidence and have fun outdoors.

While the players were busy perfecting their putting and swings with resident golf pro Glenn, parents and carers had the opportunity to relax, chat and enjoy a little well-deserved rest and relaxation in the sunshine. The perfect end to a weekend.

This week we started introducing you to our fantastic team of skydivers who are taking on an incredible challenge to raise funds for SPACE Hertfordshire.

Unfortunately, on Thursday we received the disappointing news that the skydive has been postponed due to forecasted adverse weather conditions. While we know our brave jumpers were ready to take the leap, their safety must come first.

A new date will be confirmed soon and our skydivers will be taking to the skies before we know it. We'll continue introducing our amazing jumpers closer to the event so you can get to know them and continue cheering them on as they prepare for their challenge.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our skydivers so far. Your donations, encouragement and good wishes mean the world, and we can't wait to see them take to the skies very soon! 💜

🚨 Temporary closure of Lending SPACE 🚨

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lending SPACE will be closed on Saturday, 13th June and Monday, 15th June.

This week at SPACE...

With rumours of warmer temperatures on the way, they're arriving just in time for some of our most-loved outdoor activities! Join us for Ranger Stu's Animal Encounter, SPACE Introduction to Fishing, and HYMB Stand Up Paddle Boarding – perfect opportunities to get outdoors, try something new and make memories this summer.

Our free workshops and courses continue to provide valuable information and support for parent/carers, with sessions including Preparing for an Annual Review (EHCP), Understanding Tics and Tourette's, and Exploring Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA).

And of course, the doors to Lending SPACE are open as usual on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for families wanting to borrow resources, explore equipment, or simply pop in and see us.

Did someone say partaaaay?! Join us this summer for an afternoon packed with fun, laughter and activities for the whole family.

Get creative with cake and biscuit decorating, enjoy arts and crafts, explore sensory play and get stuck in with some summer-themed games.

Fancy dress is welcome! We'd love to see your favourite summer outfits and costumes - but there's absolutely no pressure if you'd rather come as you are.

✈️ Today we're introducing the wonderful Marianne, one of our brave skydivers taking on the challenge of jumping from 7,000 feet to raise funds for SPACE Hertfordshire ✈️

When we asked Marianne why she decided to jump out of a plane, she surprised us with her answer:

"I'm not sure, I've never even been in a plane!"

Now that's what we call stepping out of your comfort zone!

Marianne went on to share her real reason for taking on this incredible challenge:

"SPACE Hertfordshire is an amazing charity that has supported me and my son for the last five years."

At the heart of so many fundraising challenges is a simple desire to give back to a charity that has made a difference. We're so grateful to Marianne for taking such a huge leap in support of local neurodivergent children, young people and their families.

Please join us in wishing Marianne the very best of luck as she prepares to take to the skies!

Eeek! Just 3 days to go! ✈️ Our super squad of 8 skydivers will soon be taking the leap from 7,000 feet in support of SPACE Hertfordshire!

Today, we’re introducing our amazing mother-and-daughter duo, Kim and Amie. It seems bravery really does run in the family! They both love pineapple on pizza, they’re both jumping out of a plane, and they’re both proudly supporting SPACE - our kind of duo.

You may also recognise Kim from her work at SPACE, where she supports families across Services and Education Support and works as our Lead Dyslexia Assessor.

Thank you both for taking on this incredible challenge to help raise funds for local neurodivergent children, young people and their families. We’re cheering you on all the way! 💜

Yesterday morning, Patty and Nicky from our Community and Engagement Team visited the Tesco HQ, where they had the opportunity to speak with Tesco colleagues about their experiences as parent carers and the challenges they can face.

It was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the support available through SPACE Hertfordshire, share experiences, and connect with staff who are part of Tesco's parent and carer support network. Patty and Nicky enjoyed meeting so many people, having meaningful conversations, and learning more about the support Tesco offers its employees.

They also invited Tesco staff to attend one of our parent carer support groups, which take place across Hertfordshire, helping to ensure families know where they can turn for advice, understanding and support.

Thank you to Tesco for the warm welcome and for creating space for such important conversations.

The countdown is on… the SPACE Hertfordshire Duck Race is back on Saturday, 11th July for its 39th year.

Hundreds of yellow ducks will race down the river at Ware Lock in one of Hertfordshire’s favourite summer events - and you can join the fun by entering our Duck Race Raffle.

Every raffle ticket sponsors a duck in the race while helping SPACE Hertfordshire support neurodivergent children, young people and their families across the county.

There are some brilliant cash prizes up for grabs too:

1st prize: £200
2nd prize: £100
3rd prize: £50

Coming up at SPACE this week, we have a fantastic range of workshops, courses, events and activities for parents and carers, and children and young people.

Our workshops include Understanding Autism, Understanding Dyslexia, No Two Brains are the Same: What is Neurodiversity? and our popular Autistic Girls Workshop.

Looking for something fun to get involved with? We also have a great selection of activities taking place, including our SPACE to Grow Allotment Summer Picnic, Indoor Climbing, Aerial Gymnastics and Golf.

And of course, the doors to Lending SPACE are open as usual on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for families wanting to borrow resources, explore equipment, or simply pop in and see us.
