Hertfordshire & North Middlesex Ramblers

Hertfordshire & North Middlesex Ramblers We support nine Ramblers Groups in our Area and help to protect our local footpaths and countryside. Extensive woodlands, meandering chalk streams.

Our area of Hertfordshire and the northern boroughs of London has a wide variety of attractive countryside. Rolling empty farmland in the east, chalk downland on the Chiltern Hills. The whole area is studded with picturesque villages and ancient market towns. Beyond the built-up southern part there are narrow lanes with little traffic and an extensive, well maintained network of rights of way. It'

s great walking country. Our London boroughs can also take advantage of easy access to explore London. Join us on a walk to find out more! In addition to our Group walks, we also work to protect and enhance the rights of way in Hertfordshire and our three London boroughs, help protect the countryside in which we walk, and run events such as our Herts & North London Walks Fest.

Have you seen the current issue of our Ramblers Area journal ‘Stile’?

This edition includes reports of our local Area AGM and The Ramblers' national AGM, General Council; updates from our volunteer Footpath Subcommittee and from Hertfordshire CC Countryside & Rights of Way Service; and a tribute to the late Chris Beney, longstanding volunteer for the Ramblers, Bushey and District Footpaths Association and the Open Spaces Society.

Pictured on the cover is a walk led by North Herts Ramblers Group for the 2026 Stevenage Walking Festival.

Stile is posted to all opted-in members of Hertfordshire & North Middlesex Ramblers Area. If you’ve not received a copy, you can download a PDF at our Area website: https://hnmramblers.org.uk/stile-journal.html
