This week, our new Volunteer Coordinator Pauline headed to the Hereford Livestock Market Cafรฉ to meet some of our fabulous Community Power volunteers and what a brilliant morning it was! โ๐ฅ
Among those around the table was ๐๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ๐ โ not the musician, but a familiar face from Herefordshireโs farming community! ๐ Howard volunteers with Community Power, using his time and experience to offer a friendly face and a listening ear to people affected by cancer.
It was also lovely to meet former auctioneer ๐ก๐ฒ๐ถ๐น ๐ช๐ฟ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐, who has spent the past few years supporting the farming community through Farming Minds, helping tackle the isolation and mental health challenges that can affect those working in agriculture.
And, of course, there was ๐๐ต๐ฟ๐ถ๐, a farmerโs wife and a wonderfully welcoming host, who kept the conversation flowing over plenty of tea and some very welcome bacon butties! โ๐ฅ
๐ What really stood out was the importance of ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป.
Our volunteers bring something incredibly valuable to their communities, their time, their experience, their local knowledge and, most importantly, their willingness to listen.
Whether itโs having an important conversation about cancer, checking in with someone who might be struggling, or simply sitting down over a cup of tea and making someone feel heard, ๐ถ๐โ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐บ๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐บ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ด ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ. ๐
