If anyone asks where Becky is today... you might need to be a little more specific! 😄

Today, 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 has teamed up with 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝗽𝘂𝘀, one of our fantastic newly trained 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, at the 𝗢𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 at 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 in Dilwyn.

Hosted by the wonderful 𝗟𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 and organised by the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀, this great event has brought together people from across the farming and cider-making community –and what better place to get people chatting about 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 and 𝗡𝗛𝗦 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 through our 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 initiative.

👏 A huge thank you to our amazing Community Cancer Champion Becky, who helped make this opportunity happen. It's a brilliant example of how our Champions are taking these vital conversations into the heart of their own communities.

💬 𝗔 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

By encouraging people to recognise the signs and symptoms of cancer, attend their screening appointments and seek help early if something doesn't feel right, we're helping more people get diagnosed sooner.

✨ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗼:

✅ Build a clear picture of the skills that already exist across the sector.

✅ Identify current training being delivered internally and externally.

✅ Highlight gaps, pressures and unmet workforce development needs.

✅ Explore opportunities for shared training, collaboration and resource pooling.

✅ Strengthen future funding bids and workforce planning for the VCFSE sector.

👥 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆?

Any voluntary, community, faith or social enterprise organisation or group operating in 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱/𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲. Ideally, it should be completed by the person with responsibility for, or oversight of, staff and volunteer training and development.

⏱️ It only takes 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 to complete, but the impact could help shape support for our sector for years to come.

🌟 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 – 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔 𝗗𝗜𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘! 💙

This morning, Toni from Community Power popped into Newton Farm Community Hub to catch up with our fantastic Community Cancer Champion, Nikki, and hear how she's getting on since completing her training.

The news couldn't have been better! 🙌

Nikki is so passionate about making a difference that she's now keen to book more of the Hub's volunteers onto our FREE Community Cancer Champion training. Her vision is for anyone visiting the Hub to be able to speak with a trained Cancer Champion, ask questions about the early signs and symptoms of cancer, understand the importance of screening, and feel confident about where to find support.
