Last night, we had the pleasure of formally welcoming Martin Wallis as our newest member. It was a particularly special occasion, as Martin already shares a long-standing connection with the club, following in the footsteps of his father, Rotarian Hayden Wallis, who was one of the club’s founding members. This continuation of family involvement is a wonderful reflection of the enduring spirit and tradition of Rotary.

Martin brings with him a wealth of experience and insight, and we are delighted that he has chosen to become part of our fellowship. His enthusiasm and commitment to community values will no doubt make him a valuable addition to the club. We look forward to Martins' contributions in the months and years ahead.

Yesterday (Friday) Helston Bowling Club hosted a group from Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard and their guests from Rotary Club Saint Brieuc Grande Large for a morning of bowling followed by lunch.
Guided by members of our bowling club our guest seemed to enjoy their time on the green and definately enjoyed the Cornish buffet that followed. There was much discussion about the Cornish cheeses and the opinion seemed to be that they compared very favourably with French cheeses. The Saffron Cake and Hevva Cake went down very well along with the clotted cream.
Thank you to everyone involved in the event and to Dales Family Butchers for the selection of cheeses and cold meats.

We were delighted to welcome our friends from the Rotary Club of Saint Brieuc Grand Large, who made their bi-annual journey across the Channel to visit us once again.

These twinning visits are always a highlight in our Rotary calendar, strengthening the bonds of friendship, fellowship, and shared purpose that unite our clubs. It was wonderful to spend time together, exchange ideas, and enjoy each other’s company both formally and socially.

From attending president night and Bowling at Helston Bowling Club, to last night Meal at Kota Kai. the visit was a reminder of the value of international partnership and the lasting friendships that Rotary helps to create.

We look forward to continuing this special tradition and to our next visit to Saint Brieuc.

Safe travels home to our friends, and thank you for making the trip so memorable.

On Friday, we held our President’s Night at the Polurrian Hotel, always a true highlight of the Rotary year.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to come together, reflect on the past year, and celebrate the dedication and leadership of our outgoing President, Rtn Nick Wills. Nick has guided the club with commitment, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of community, and we are incredibly grateful for all he has achieved.

We were also fortunate to have our sister club from Rotary Club Saint Brieuc Grand Large to share the evening with us.

A fantastic evening in a beautiful setting, shared with great company, a fitting tribute to a successful year.

On Tuesday, at our final business meeting of the Rotary year, President Rtn Nick Wills presented Rtn Colin Benney with his 25-year Service Award.

Colin has been a true stalwart of the club, including serving as President in 2008/09, and has made a lasting impact through his dedication and commitment. He has also been instrumental in supporting ShelterBox, helping extend Rotary’s reach to those affected by disasters worldwide.

A well-deserved recognition of 25 years of outstanding service, thank you, Colin.

Tonight marked our final Rotary Club business meeting of the year. It has flown by, but what wonderful memories we have made together. The strength of our bond is what makes our commitment so worthwhile, and it is that same unity that allows us to make a real difference in our community.

When you get nights of Rotary fellowship, things are truly special. It’s more than just a gathering, it’s a chance to connect with like-minded people, share stories, strengthen friendships, and celebrate the spirit of service that brings us all together. These moments remind us why Rotary matters, not just in what we achieve, but in the camaraderie and goodwill we build along the way. fans
