As you know, the last meeting of Café Polyglot Helston before the Summer Break will be on 27th July.
We shall open up again on 20th September and from then on meetings will be on WEDNESDAY evenings.

For those of you who were not too 'zoomed' out during Covid and might miss a bit of French conversation during the Summer months, you might like to know that a lady called Muriel Bercez runs an Internet Café Polyglot every Friday night from her home in Calais and is joined by French speakers from many different countries. To get a zoom invite, simply send her an e-mail at [email protected] (Don't forget the dot).

Just a reminder that there will be Café Polyglot Helston this Thursday 13th July and again on Thursday 27th. We shall then break for the Summer and resume again in September. We have decided that from September we shall be meeting on Wednesday nights as people have said that it would be more convenient. Hope to see you there. Phil

CAFÉ POLYGLOT - USE IT OR LOSE IT! Having got off to a promising start, I am sad to report that, over the last couple of months, attendance at Café Polyglot Helston has dwindled to such an extent that we now have to consider whether or not it is worthwhile continuing.
We had thought that, just like in Penzance which has had a Café Polyglot for over twelve years, lovers of foreign languages in Helston would jump at the chance to try out their linguistic skills with likeminded people in a friendly atmosphere but sadly this seems not to be the case, at least at the moment.
On a positive note, we are booked at the Inn & Still until mid July so, if attendance picks up we have every intention to carry on
OUR NEXT MEETING IS THIS COMING THURSDAY, 15th JUNE SO, IF YOU WANT THE CLUB TO CONTINUE, PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO COME ALONG.

You are warmly invited to Helston Town Twinning's Grand International Quiz on Friday 24th March at Helston Football Club.

Don't worry - All the questions will be in English but will have an international flavour, so it's a great opportunity to impress your friends with your knowledge of the world!

Make a date in your diary and invite a few friends to make up a team.

Doors open at 7.00pm and the quiz will start at 7.30pm.

The price is £6 which includes a delicious pasty. Please let us know whether or not you will be coming as we need to know how many pasties to order. Tickets can be obtained from members of the committee or YOU MAY PAY AT THE DOOR but may not be guaranteed a pasty if we didn't know that you were coming. RSVP by e-mail to [email protected]

All proceeds from the event will go towards promoting friendship with Helston's twin town Plougasnou in Brittany.
