If you have ever had any questions about the what and why of Humanism, this is the meeting for you!

We are thrilled to invite you to join Andrew Copson, Chief Executive of Humanists UK (the largest secular advocacy group in the UK), to our local humanist group meeting for a wide-ranging exploration of how humanism can guide us through these challenging times, from making individual ethical choices to building resilient, compassionate communities.

This is your opportunity to hear from a leading voice on:

- How we can continue to advocate for human rights and equality in an era of rising religious authoritarianism.
- The role of humanist communities as drivers of social connection.
- Building a more just, evidence-based world.

Details:

When: Saturday, the 2nd of May

Where: The Redwood Centre (Clair Hall complex), Haywards Heath

Included: Refreshments! Feel free to bring cakes or snacks to share (please label allergens). There will also be a breakout space with kids' activities.

Whether you are a humanist, humanist-curious, or simply looking to connect with like-minded people, we’d love to see you there. Let’s come together to consider our own aspirations and the role we can play in building a better world.

Our coordinator shared a write up of Saturday's event (Asylum and immigration: a compassionate, informed humanist approach | Haywards Heath Humanists) on their personal blog (A Humanist Dad) along with some choice pictures. We think the event showed the best of our values, and the type of events we can put on if we can continue to grow our community.

Thanks everyone for your including our speakers Alison Bennett for Mid Sussex Care4Calais Brighton, Brighton & Hove Stands Up To Racism and the Haywards Heath branch of Amnesty International UK plus all the counter protesters including Brighton Antifascists as well as all our community members, and our friends at Sunday Assembly Brighton for lending us a PA system.

Our community group came together for an informing and energising event on asylum and immigration. With contributions from attendees, expert speakers and activists we busted myths, and championed a…

Thanks everyone for an incredible turn out at today's event Asylum and immigration: a compassionate, informed humanist approach | Haywards Heath Humanists - our coordinator will have a write up on their personal blog (A Humanist Dad) next week.

22/02/2025

Our first community meeting was a great start and we had some really good ideas for the group discussed. But to get things going we really need a successful Second Community Meeting | Haywards Heath Humanists

Our second community meeting will be an opportunity to meet with like-minded humanists, and hear how they are putting their humanism into action. We'll be joined by Wayne Mills from Humanists UK who will discuss the impact of humanist groups accross the country. Our Coordinator - Alastair Lichten - will lead a workshop and update us on progress establishing a the new group based in Haywards Heath.
