🎃🍂 HALF WAY THROUGH HALF TERM! 🍂🎃

We’re halfway through our half-term adventures, and today we headed to Farmer Copleys for some pumpkin picking! 🎃🧡

Everyone had a lovely time getting into the Halloween spirit, exploring the pumpkin patch and choosing their own pumpkins ready for some spooky Halloween fun! 👻🕸️

We love making the most of the school holidays, creating memories, trying new experiences and, most importantly, having lots of fun together! 🧡

We wonder what the rest of half term has in store for us… 👀🎃

🎃👻 Halloween Sensory Workshop at The Mayfield Trust! 👻🎃

We’ve kicked off our first school holiday with a spooktacular Halloween sensory workshop! 🧡🖤

From exploring different textures and sensory materials to getting hands-on with our Halloween-themed activities, there’s been lots to see, touch and explore! 🎃🕷️

We love creating fun, engaging experiences that encourage curiosity, sensory exploration and, most importantly, lots of smiles! 🧡

On Your Bikes at Streetbikes! A group headed over to Streetbikes for a fantastic session on the adapted bikes! 🎃👻 Pumpkin Carving Afternoon at The Mayfield Trust! 🧡

We’ve had a lovely afternoon getting into the Halloween spirit with our pumpkin carving! 🎃 Everyone got creative, and we’ve had lots of spooky fun along the way! 🕷️🍂

Our centre is looking extra spooky too, thanks to our lovely volunteer Scott, who has done a fantastic job with our Halloween decorations! 🧡👻 A huge thank you to Scott for helping make Mayfield look so festive!

We love bringing everyone together to enjoy fun activities, get creative and make special memories. 🧡🎃

💙 A lovely visit from Ravenscliffe Year 14 Transition Group! 💙

We were delighted to welcome the Year 14 Transition Group from Ravenscliffe to The Mayfield Trust for a tour of our service and a mini workshop showcasing some of the activities and opportunities we offer.

The group had the chance to explore our arts and crafts activities, experience our OMI projector and enjoy a visit to our sensory room! 🎨✨🌈

We even had Nathan helping us welcome everyone and make the group feel at home! 😊 It was lovely to share a little insight into life at Mayfield and the different ways we support people to learn, explore, build skills and enjoy new experiences.

We hope you all had a lovely time with us, and thank you for coming to visit! 💙

Today is International Stammering Awareness Day 💬

Everyone deserves the time and space to communicate in the way that works best for them.

A stammer is simply one way of speaking. The most supportive thing we can do is listen patiently, maintain natural eye contact and focus on what the person is saying without interrupting or finishing their sentences.

At Mayfield Trust, we believe every voice matters and everyone should feel heard, respected and valued.

Let’s take the time to listen.

💙 Celebrating James! 👏

We’re delighted to share that James is back volunteering at Overgate Hospice following some time away due to the renovations, and he’s doing a fantastic job! 🌟

Having a volunteering placement is about so much more than work experience. For people with learning disabilities, it’s an opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills, gain independence and feel valued within their community.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and show what they can achieve, and James is doing just that! 💙

A huge thank you to the team at Overgate for supporting inclusive volunteering and helping create opportunities for people to thrive.

A Step Back in Time at The Piece Hall 🧵🏛️

A big thank you to Lead the Way for organising such a fantastic Heritage Tour at The Piece Hall in Halifax!

As The Mayfield Trust, we were delighted to take part in this wonderful opportunity to learn more about our local history, discover fascinating facts about this iconic building and have a go at weaving, exploring an important part of Halifax’s textile heritage.

It was a brilliant day full of learning, new experiences and celebrating our local community. Jack, Rebecca, Rachel and Aidan loved it!

A special thank you to Kate for organising the session and to the lovely Piece Hall volunteers, Jill and Andrea, for showing us around and sharing their knowledge with us.
