It's Small Charity Week.

When people think about the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, they often think about flying, adventure training, sport, leadership and all the amazing opportunities available to young people.

What many don't realise is that behind every squadron is a local charity supported by volunteer trustees.

These trustees help manage charitable funds that support activities, equipment and opportunities that enhance the cadet experience locally.

Whether it's fundraising for new equipment, securing grants, building community partnerships or supporting squadron projects, these local charities play a huge role in helping young people access opportunities and develop skills for life.

As Chair of Trustees for West Mercian Wing, I'm fortunate to see the impact of these charities and their volunteers across our squadrons.

RAF Cosford Air Show ☁️✈️

Our cadets had an amazing day at the Cosford Air Show this weekend!!

The day was packed with incredible flying displays, from fast jets and helicopters to historic aircraft. One of the highlights was seeing the Typhoon and Chinook displays!

Cadets also had the chance to look around the different exhibits, learn more about aviation, and speak to people from across the RAF and aviation industry and speak to other Air Cadets during the event.

It was a great opportunity to spend time together, enjoy the atmosphere, and see some of the best aircraft in the UK up close.

2026 Sector 4 Junior NCO Course! 📖🤔

Last weekend, Corporal Fratila went on his Junior NCO Course and completed his stage of training development as a JNCO Rank. We also had assistance from Flight Sergeant Sprigg to help DS and deliver some activities during the duration of the course.

Well done to both and their commitment to development as an NCO at 223 Halesowen Squadron.
