The Last Ever Rotary Club of Halesowen & Rowley Regis Sleigh Runs as Club is to close.
Sadly, at an E.G.M. held on 28th February 2026, it was decided that the Rotary Club of Halesowen & Rowley Regis should close at the end of the Rotary year, 30th June 2026.
Unfortunately, this means:-
No more sponsorship for the Food Bank Van
No More support for Halesowen in Bloom
No more support for local charities and organisations
No more Rotary Santa Sleigh Runs
This has come about because, although there is no shortage of volunteers to help with the Sleigh Runs, our main source of charity income, this has not been converted into an increase in membership. It is the members who apply for licences for the street collections, arrange the routes, devise rotas of personnel, see the sleigh out from & back into it’s storage, make decisions as to whether each run can be done safely etc. etc.
As the organisation of this falls to club officers & members, age & ill health is making all this very difficult. The current officers are stepping down & there are insufficient members able to replace them.
It is very sad that after 90 years it has come to this, but the club has had to face the inevitable, as without the required members to take office, it is impossible for the club to continue.
