Monday marked the 31st of August - International Overdose Awareness Day💜

Individuals, communities, and support services came together for our Candlelight Vigil to remember every person who has lost their life; to stand alongside those who continue to carry that loss, and to remind families and friends of those loved ones that they are not alone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, lit a candle, shared a part of their story, or simply stood quietly in remembrance. Every name, every memory and every candle represented a life that mattered and a person who is deeply missed💜

We also want to hold space for those who couldn’t be there. For anyone who wanted to come but didn’t feel able to, for those who found the day too difficult, and for anyone whose grief is still too raw to share. We remember with you.

We also remember those who don’t have someone to say their name, remember, or light a candle for. You are not forgotten.

As we move forward into Recovery Month (September), we will also turn our focus towards hope, healing and the many different journeys of recovery. Recovery can look different for everyone, and every step forward matters. We celebrate the courage of those choosing recovery, and stand alongside families and communities affected by alcohol and drugs. There is support beyond isolation.

We will celebrate recovery, remember those we have lost, and continue to remind everyone affected that you are not alone💜
