First step in any vehicle build is usually the engine.....for some reason.....

This is the engine of the international payhauler....doesn't look like much but there are almost 60 parts in this one sub assembly.....to put that in comparison the airfix spitfire starter set has 26 parts for the whole build.....

One of our club members has decided to try and build something truly massive for display at the Edinburgh show in September.

It's a 1/25 scale international payhauler.... basically a giant dump truck......the second picture shows the basin of the truck with 3 diet coke cans in it for scale.....

Do you think he can manage it??

Last weekend our club put on a display at the Scottish national scale model show in Perth. Our display was immensely diverse showing builds from all aspects of modelling from 1/76 scale armour to giant 1/1400 scale starships.

One of our members even entered his 1/700 HMS Queen Elizabeth in the competition and won second place in the ship category.

It was a brilliant weekend with lots of chatter and laughter. Thanks to the Scottish National Model Show for having us. Here's hoping we will be back next year.

Our next show (at the moment) will be scale Scotland at Murrayfield in September.

And she's finished.

Airfix' 1/48 scale Dr Havilland Sea Vixen built straight out the box but using after market decals to make it an aircraft from 890 nas flying off HMS Ark Royal.

This is planned to be the first of many aircraft built to represent Ark Royals various aircraft.

The finished model is currently setup and will be on display at the Greenock model railway show over the weekend.

Unfortunately scale Scotland was cancelled at the end of September, this was a bit of relief as the sea vixen hasn't been finished. However, the club will be displaying at the Greenock model railway show on the 18th and 19th of October.

With that in mind our member has made another boost in construction, building has been mostly finished (bar the fidgety bits that go on at the end), painting is swift as the fleet air arm of the 60s and 70s were simple colours...then it was on to the decalling.....the end is in sight but there is still a long road to travel.

There's been a surge in the construction of the sea vixen.

The cockpit has been painted, the fuselage assembled along with the twin booms and the nose cone.

The wings have also been assembled and have been left detached at the moment as they will be in the folded up position once assembled, leaving them off makes painting a lot easier.

Next step will to finish assembly of the minor parts such as air intakes and the connection parts for the folded wings.....then it's onto painting

On the 20th of September the club will be putting on a display at the Scale Scotland model show at MurrayField.

One of our club members has decided to set himself a challenge, the challenge is to build a 1/48 scale De Havilland Sea Vixen in 9 weeks.

Can it be done? Who knows....but good luck to him. So far today he has built the cockpit, the twin fuselage booms, the air intakes and the exhaust ports and has started work on the wheel bays.
