πŸ“šβœ¨ FACTUAL FRIDAY βœ¨πŸ“š

Did you know that Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare (IFIT) is proudly based at the historic Dutch Gable House in Greenock? πŸ›οΈ

The Dutch Gable House, located on William Street, is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Greenock and dates all the way back to 1755. It stands as a reminder of the town's rich maritime and trading heritage, with its distinctive Dutch-style gable making it one of Greenock's most recognisable historic buildings. πŸŒŠβš“

The building underwent a major restoration project in 1984, helping to preserve this important piece of Inverclyde's history for future generations. Behind the Dutch Gable House sits what is believed to be the oldest house in Greenock, making this small corner of the town a fascinating link to our past. πŸ πŸ“œ

Today, this historic building continues to serve the local community as the home of IFIT, supporting individuals as they rebuild their lives and move forward with hope, dignity and purpose. ❀️
History and hope under one roof. πŸ™Œ

πŸ’™ Volunteers' Week 2026 πŸ’™

Yesterday, as part of Volunteers' Week, we had the pleasure of treating some of our amazing volunteers to a meal at 134 Cathcart Steakhouse. 🍽️✨

Joining us were staff members Robbie and David, along with volunteers George, Sean and Tam. Unfortunately, Alison couldn't make it along this time, but she was definitely there in spirit. In fact, Robbie even ordered cheesecake for dessert in honour of her absence! πŸ˜‚πŸ°

We were also delighted to welcome a very special guest appearance from our other Robbie. He's had a difficult time recently with his health, but it was fantastic to see him looking well and continuing on his road to recovery. We look forward to welcoming him back into the team in the future. ❀️

Events like this are important. They give us an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution our volunteers make to Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare every single week. They also help strengthen our team, build friendships, and remind us that we're all working together towards the same goal: supporting people and families across Inverclyde.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, not just this week, but every week. We simply couldn't do what we do without you. πŸ™πŸ’™

If you appreciate the work our volunteers do, please give this post a πŸ‘, leave a comment, and share it with your friends. We'd also love to welcome new followers to our page, so please invite others to follow us and keep up to date with everything happening at IFIT.

🌟 Volunteers' Week 2026 🌟
πŸ“… 1st - 7th June 2026

This week, we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank the incredible volunteers who help make Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare the supportive and welcoming service that it is. πŸ’™

Our volunteers give their time, skills, experience and compassion to support people and families across Inverclyde, helping individuals build brighter futures and stronger communities.

πŸ‘ George volunteers his time to manage our page and leads our Family Support Group every second Wednesday, creating a safe and supportive space for families affected by imprisonment.

🎸 Sean runs our weekly music group every Thursday, sharing his passion for music and helping participants learn guitar, build confidence and express themselves creatively.

πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ Tam is passionate about wellbeing, personal growth and recovery. Whether it's wellbeing walks, encouraging healthy lifestyles or supporting people to achieve their goals, he's always ready to help.

☎️ Alison provides regular telephone support to participants, checking in, offering encouragement and helping people stay connected and supported when they need it most.

πŸ’™ We are also incredibly grateful to our peer volunteers and participants who give back by providing one-to-one support, sharing their lived experience and helping others navigate their own journeys.

Every conversation, every walk, every phone call and every act of kindness makes a difference. Thank you to each and every one of our volunteers. You are valued, appreciated and an essential part of the IFIT family. πŸ™

πŸ‘ Please like and share this post to help us recognise our amazing volunteers.

πŸ’™ This Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome Ian Hanley, Community Justice Lead Officer at Inverclyde Council, along to our Family Support Group.

Ian took the time to introduce himself, explain the role of Community Justice, and have an open discussion with family members about some of the challenges they may face while supporting a loved one involved with our service.

Did you know that our Family Support Group meets fortnightly on Wednesdays at 1:00pm? 🀝

Supporting someone through difficult times can be challenging, and sometimes family members need support too. Our group offers a safe, friendly space to connect with others, share experiences, and access information and support.

If IFIT supports your loved one and you think you could benefit from support yourself, send us a message πŸ“© and we'll let you know when the next group is running and invite you along.

Together, we are stronger. πŸ’™

πŸ’šπŸ₯Ύ FEEL GOOD FRIDAY πŸ₯ΎπŸ’š

On Wednesday, the team from Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare proudly took part in the sponsored Greenock Cut walk in support of Stroke Association, IRH Rainbow Garden, IRH Hospital, and the Larkfield Unit. πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ

What an incredible day of community spirit, support, and togetherness! Across all services involved, over Β£800 has been raised so far for Stroke Association, helping support stroke recovery, wellbeing, and vital community services across Scotland. πŸ’œ

It was amazing to see so many people come together for such an important cause while enjoying the beautiful scenery right here in Inverclyde. From every step walked to every donation made, the support has been fantastic.

A massive thank you to everyone who donated, took part, encouraged us along the way, and helped make the day such a success. πŸ‘

We’re incredibly proud to have been part of such a positive collaborative effort across Inverclyde, showing what can happen when communities come together to support one another. πŸ’š

There’s still time to donate before the JustGiving page closes at the end of May:

🌿 WELLBEING WEDNESDAY 🌿

This week our Wellbeing Wednesday walk takes a slightly different route as staff, peers and participants take on the beautiful Greenock Cut πŸ₯Ύβ›°οΈ

A huge thank you to our staff member David, who has kindly organised this alongside his many volunteering roles within the community πŸ‘πŸ’œ

This is a sponsored walk with all funds raised going to the Stroke Association - Scotland, helping to support the incredible work they do for stroke survivors and their families.

You can find David’s JustGiving page here:

As a registered charity ourselves, it would be inappropriate for us to directly ask for donations towards another charity. However, we believe it is important to raise awareness of such a worthwhile cause, and our followers are of course free to donate if they wish through the link above πŸ’œ

Please like πŸ‘, share πŸ”„ and help us spread awareness!

πŸ’œ Go Purple for May – Greenock Cut Fundraiser πŸ’œ

On Wednesday 20th May, staff, peers and participants from Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare will be taking on The Greenock Cut πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

We’re proud to be part of our staff member, David Roy’s β€œGo Purple” campaign this May, raising funds for the Stroke Association πŸ’œ

This is a real community effort, with fundraising led by David and supported by staff and volunteers from the Larkfield Unit, IRH Rainbow Garden, the stroke ward, IRH, and Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare. Throughout May, people are coming together through walking, hiking, fundraising activities, and donations to raise as much as possible for this vital cause.

Every step we take is for those affected by stroke, helping to fund support and life-changing work carried out by the Stroke Association.

πŸ’™ Motivational Monday πŸ’™

The journey continues… and it’s gathering a beautiful kind of momentum 🌊✨

Our Wednesday Wellbeing Walk is still going strong β€” boots hitting the pavement, conversations flowing, and connections deepening with every single step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

What began as a simple walk has grown into something steady and powerful. Each week, familiar faces and new ones alike come together, walking side by side from Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare to the Craigend Resource Centre β€” sharing stories, supporting one another, and reminding each other that no one has to do this alone πŸ€πŸ’¬

There’s something special about moving forward together β€” problems feel lighter, hope feels closer, and even the toughest days seem a bit more manageable when you’ve got the right people beside you 🌀️

And let’s be honest… that well-earned bite to eat at the end never hurts either πŸ˜‹πŸ½οΈ

We’re proud of every step being taken. Big or small, they all count πŸ’ͺ🌱

Keep going. Keep showing up. Keep walking forward πŸ‘£

Feel Good Friday πŸ’›

25 incredible individuals on their recovery journeys came together once again with local services across Inverclyde through our joint ADP partnership β€” and what a day it was πŸ™Œ

To kick off the summer in style, the group enjoyed a brilliant day in Greenock filled with pool 🎱, good food 🍽️, plenty of laughs πŸ˜„ and, most importantly, meaningful connection 🀝

Days like this are what it’s all about β€” building relationships, celebrating progress, and reminding each other that no one walks this path alone πŸ’ͺ

Here’s to more shared moments, continued growth, and brighter days ahead β˜€οΈ
Roll on summer in Inverclyde!
