In Scotland, 3 in 4 su***de deaths are men, making it the leading cause of death for men under 50.

Many men hold back because they feel they have to carry the weight alone. But at The Anchor, you don't have to put on a brave face. Our team is trained to sit with you in the dark, no judgment, no panic, and no waiting lists.

If you or a mate are having suicidal thoughts, our doors are open.

For Su***de Prevention Month, our September Anchor Action is simple: Get moving, get outside, and connect.

You don't need to sign up, log miles, or raise money. We just want to flood Inverclyde with messages of hope and remind everyone that taking a break and clearing your head matters. Whether you’re out walking the dog, pushing the pram, or catching up with a mate over a quick walk, getting fresh air is one of the best ways to reset when things feel heavy.

💛 Your Action This Month:
1️⃣ Get Outside: Take a walk in your local area.
2️⃣ Snap a Pic: Take a quick photo while you’re out (pets always welcome! 🐾)
3️⃣ Tag & Share: Post your picture, tag us, and add one short sentence about what keeps you grounded or gives you hope.

Our team will be sharing their daily walks all month long to keep the chain going.

Let's show everyone across Inverclyde that no matter what you're facing, you never have to walk through it alone💛

September is Su***de Prevention Month, but keeping our community safe, connected, and grounded is what we do every single day ⚓️💛

Our mission is simple: You are never a burden, and you never have to walk through the dark alone.

True su***de prevention happens right here in our community: over a warm cup of tea, through open conversations, and with zero judgment. At The Anchor, we offer:

💙No Waiting Lists or Referrals: Just walk straight in.
💛 Trained, Grounded Support: A team equipped to sit with you in acute distress.
💙A Community Safety Net: Dedicated support for youth, families, women, and men across Inverclyde.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with suicidal thoughts, our doors are open.

True stability is about mind and body working together. That’s why we love collaborating with our friend Craig Molloy Coaching C.I.C!

Craig understands that physical discipline, fitness, and structured training are incredible tools for managing stress, building mental resilience, and beating isolation. He brings the same no-nonsense, non-judgmental energy to his football coaching that we value here at The Anchor.

Thank you, Craig, for backing our mission, supporting our community, and helping people build physical and mental strength from the ground up! 💪💙

Maria Frankgate Hair Salon Joins Our Yellow Anchor Trail! ✂️⚓️💛

Salons and barbershops are the beating heart of local chatter. They are places where people drop their guard, have an honest chat, and unwind. By placing our bright yellow anchor in their salon, they are helping us turn everyday local spaces into safe, informed points of crisis signposting right here in Inverclyde.

💼 Want your business or office on the trail? Help us build a safer Inverclyde. Drop us a DM or email [email protected].

⚓️ Anchor Amplified ⚓️

We are always keen to support the young people of Inverclyde, and through our Anchor Amplified project have supported young Dean Black's 3rd kit at Greenock Morton for the season ahead 💙

We were delighted to see young Deano get on the scoresheet today and big things to come from this talented boy, who we know well from our football projects in the community ⚽️

We wish Greenock Morton all the best for the season ahead and look forward to getting along to show our support for Dean & the team soon 👏

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and throughout next month, you are going to hear a lot more from us.

We won't be sharing cold, clinical lectures or sanitised messages. Instead, we’ll be delivering weekly, evidence-based facts about su***de, dismantling the myths that keep people isolated, and providing real, practical actions you can take right here in Inverclyde to save lives.

Su***de prevention isn't just an awareness campaign - it’s a year-round commitment to building stability, opening doors, and keeping each other safe.

Let's break the silence together.

Building Su***de-Safer Communities Across Scotland ⚓️

Co-delivering ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training) last week was deeply rewarding. Facilitating these spaces takes energy and time away from the day job, but seeing the direct impact on the ground makes every minute worth it.
We now have 14 more individuals equipped with life-saving intervention skills, ready to foster su***de-safer communities across Scotland.

By building capacity, normalising open conversations around su***de, and equipping people with practical intervention tools, we continue to strengthen the safety net across our communities.
