The Committee and Members of Greenock Model Yacht and Power Boat Club would like to formally thank Inverclyde Community Development Trust for the recently completed work to update our historic clubhouse.
Trust supervisor Gary Mulholland and his team of 16 trainees have been working on the clubhouse and have also been making environmental improvements around the dam.
The trainees deserve a lot of credit, they've completely transformed the clubhouse. It's a lot fresher and brighter inside. If it hadn't been for The Trust, the work wouldn't have got done.
Our Clubhouse is a really historic building, being oldest clubhouse in Scotland, and the second oldest in the UK.
Councillor Tommy McVey deserves special thanks as he was instrumental in getting the work done by contacting Council Officers and Ross Ahlfeld at the Trust.
Our thanks must also go to the Convenor of the Environment and Regeneration Committee, Councillor Michael McCormick, for supporting this project.
Ross Ahlfeld, CEO of the Trust, said: "This has been a very good project for the Trust, with lots of different training opportunities, from fixing up the kitchen, laying the floor, interior painting and also environmental work carried out around the dam. We are delighted to be able to carry out work in the community, with this project being funded by Inverclyde Council and delivered by the Trust."
