🌿 Volunteer Spotlight: The Drying Green Team 🌿

As part of Volunteers Week, we want to spotlight the incredible work that our group of volunteers do to care for and shape The Drying Green.

Working together, this group has played a vital role in maintaining and activating the space, creating something that the wider community can enjoy and feel part of.

Through their involvement, volunteers have built confidence, developed new skills, and formed strong connections with others. For many, it’s also been a stepping stone into wider opportunities, from supporting creative programmes to getting involved in larger events and projects.

They’re an amazing bunch and we are so grateful for everything they bring to RIG 💚🌳🌷

📍Gourock Park
📍Wellpark, Greenock

The labyrinths were worked on by artist Alan Potter along with Walk as One, a group of volunteers across Inverclyde.

Today, Creativity in Mind participants Thomas and Laura visited the Old West Kirk Church on the RIG Arts grounds with RIG's Creative Director Jason Orr to learn about the history of the church and carry out a mini impromptu paranormal investigation 👻

We got some high electromagnetic readings around the church pews… have you had any local paranormal experiences to share? Or do you have any memories of Old West Kirk?

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Kayla 🌟

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the amazing people who help make our programmes possible.

Kayla has been volunteering with us over the past year, supporting our Creativity in Mind and CIM Plus sessions, as well as helping out in children’s classes at our previous space.

Through her time with us, Kayla has built confidence, developed new creative skills, and become involved in wider projects, including supporting the delivery of this year’s Galoshans Festival 🎭

Kayla’s journey is a brilliant example of how volunteering can open up new opportunities, build confidence, and create pathways into the arts.

We’re so grateful to have her as part of the RIG community! 💚💜

At our Carers Gateway Drawing and Painting session this week, we sat outside in the sun and drew the landscape around us, taking inspiration from Etel Adnan’s vibrant, geometric paintings 🟩🟣

These workshops are delivered in partnership with and are a chance for carers to create and connect with like minded people.
