Save Our Service Veterans is a non profit organisation which was started in October 2016 by John Nobel in Parkhead Glasgow. On the 30th August 2017 we became a registered charity with OSCR. They provide therapeutic projects that work alongside Combat Stress and Help for Heroes who have correct treatment plan. They both have the treatment plans, then we at SOSV step in providing help and welfare to

the ex-service community in Scotland by providing Recovery through Sport /Football sessions and Horticulture/Gardening. John is a veteran of the Royal Logistics Corps and saw service with 3 back to back tours in Bosnia, where the things he witnessed led to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. To help with his recovery he started a gardening project in a disused community garden in Parkhead. This is where he helps other veterans and members of the community who struggle with mental health issues. The difference the community garden project has made to them is immense and 2 of our veterans have gained the courage to return back to work. The organisation also plays football on a regular basis and has been invited to play an "International" against veterans of the Welsh Guards in Wales. This game is due to be played in July. If successful a return match will be organised in Glasgow. The group's key aims are to support veterans suffering from mental health and other social problems to re-integrate back into Scottish communities.
