Loneliness Awareness Week
15 to 21st June 2026.

We all feel lonely at times – it’s a natural human emotion.

We're biologically wired for social contact, and loneliness is our signal that we need more.

We know loneliness is a huge issue affecting all ages.
Whilst loneliness can be a normal part of life if it is transient & not experienced too frequently it can have a profoundly negative effect on your health and can be considered the 'social equivalent of physical pain.

GCC was set up purely with the ethos to aid adult isolation & loneliness nearly 11 years ago.

We have members who joined for just those reasons and they have gone on to make lifeline friends in & out of choir, social coffee, theatre meet ups even being on holidays together & made romantic relationships.

No one needs to feel this way .. please reach out to friends , family members , neighbours & wider community .

Today is part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Here at GCC you’d don’t need to have experience to sing with us .
All we ask is that you have an enjoyment of music and you are up for meeting likeminded people & having fun….

We cover a wide range of styles and themes…

Plus our fantastic home bakers never fail to keep our tastebuds tantalised with sweet treats too.

Now it’s time to introduce one of the larger voice sections of GCC.

Our Altos…… Just because we are over 20 members strong doesn’t mean we are the loudest 😉😉. Don’t let anyone say different 🤣🤣🤣

Some of our newer members start within the ALTOS whilst they “Find their voices” & those pesky Sopranos lure them away in a hope to increase their numbers..

Honestly we don’t mind sharing they pinch the melody too sometimes ..

We still are one big happy family split 4 ways😎😎😎

Choir were privileged to be part of Garforth Peace Projects fundraising event last night.
It’s still not over as the new monument is being unveiled on Tuesday up at the memorial gardens on Aberford Road .

What are your plans for Saturday? How about sharing some love, peace, harmony, music and cake with your family & friends.

Starting at 2pm on Garforth Peace-Project are hosting a fundraiser at Garforth WMC on Barleyhill Road LS25 1AU.

During the afternoon local school children are taking part in the annual “Peace Bake Off” competition . Of which said cakes will then be available to buy… 🤤🍰🧁🥮🎂😊 all to raise money for the Peace Flame & the Project itself.

It dosent end there.
In the evening (doors open 7pm) The Peace Project team are hosting a concert where we Garforth Community Choir are very excited to announce we will be preforming alongside our friends & fellow community group GULP Garforth UkuLele Players

A few tickets still remain and maybe available at the door on the night too..

A full day & night of fun for all - all to raise funds to continue supporting peace in Garforth and wider afield.

Here are just a small selection of our lovely choir members who sing within the range of Soprano…
Along with some useful & fun anecdotes associated with this section.
I’m not sure we would fully agree with them all but we sure like to have fun & you can see these ladies are enjoying themselves as we celebrated our 10th birthday last year & not letting life get too serious ….well for most of the time.

We are a mixed abilities, 18+ no audition community group that meet weekly on a Wednesday evening. If you’re interested to know more drop us a message or email for more details.

Doesn’t matter if you don’t know your vocal range?
As our amazing director and vocal coach Liz is on hand to guide you to where your feel most comfortable.

All we ask is you love music , singing, meeting like minded adults & eating homemade cake..

Local businesses are the backbone of our area as are the various community groups in & around LS25 /26.

We feel blessed to have had the opportunity to collaborate with some of these groups in the past and hopefully in the future.
It perfectly brings music to our ears!

So we want to know !
Does it make you wanna sing out loud to your favorite tunes? Even in the shower or in the car.

Don't be shy or worry about your voice, just come and vibe with us!
And, I forgot to say we have cake,
so let's be real cake is a pretty sweet thing…..
