One more of the Austhorpe Road planters topped up with compost and a few begonias added, plus the ollas to help keep everything hydrated🌱

If you're handy with a saw, we'd really appreciate these gaps repairing! We can pay you with the mint that's spreading on a couple of our beds 😂 🍹

Remember to help yourself to anything that's ready 🌱

The ollas (pronounced "oya's) are water reservoirs to help during dry spells - if you're passing and see that they're empty, feel free to top them up 💧

Let’s Grow East Leeds Fest was fab. We shared a stall with the lovely Liz from Seacroft Forest Garden.

There were loads of visitors - we almost ran out of free seeds. Lots of enthusiasm for planting now for crops between now and December. And a new volunteer, Nina, who will help look after our Floorstore bed.

Plus I was lucky to meet the amazing Madam Zucchini, she’s hilarious. Some new connections made. Thank you to Natalie and Let's Grow East Leeds

We collected our donated IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) last night. Shout out to Gemma, Mike, Jude and James for helping to lift and carry it to its new home in Pendas Fields Community Orchard.

We’ll use it to collect water for keeping our baby fruit trees and nut trees hydrated. Some of them have a few tiny fruits - here’s the medlar tree.

It’s the annual Love Parks Week from 24th July to 2nd August. We’re so lucky to have Manston Park on our doorstep.

Shout out to Scott, Neil and the Parks team who look after it.

Our Incredible Edible community food bed inside the bowling green will soon have its 5th anniversary. So far the lemon balm, sage, rosemary, bay and oregano have survived the hot weather and are looking a bit crispy in places! The photos below are from a few weeks ago.

If you’re passing on a weekday morning please go and take a look, help yourself to herbs and give them some water if you can.

Love your park!

Lovely to see the oregano flowers in our Manston Park bed are attracting loads of bees and butterflies.

Come and see us at Chapel FM this Saturday 25th July between 1-3pm.

We’ll have a stall there and will be giving away free seeds with advice on planting them to get fresh veg and herbs in the coming months. And we’ll have fresh herbs from our community food beds.
