Phyllis Tuckwell is the only adult hospice care service covering West Surrey and North East Hampshire

For over 40 years Phyllis Tuckwell has provided supportive and end of life care to patients and their families living with an advanced or terminal illness in West Surrey and North East Hampshire, serving 550,000 residents. Every day we support over 250 patients, carers and their families in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham (In-Patient Unit, Day Groups, outpatient appointments and through Patient & Family Support) and the Beacon Centre in Guildford (Day Groups, Outpatient appointments and through Patient & Family Support). The NHS/Government usually only covers 20% of our costs, which means we rely heavily on the support and generosity of our local community. All our services are free of charge to our patients and their families, but we need to raise over £25,000 a day to offer such an exceptional standard of clinical care and support.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time when someone you love is no longer here.

Light up a Life is a traditional event in the Phyllis Tuckwell calendar, where those who wish to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones, are invited to join us for a very special service of readings and carols that will be held at Guildford Cathedral.

Whether your loved one was cared for by Phyllis Tuckwell or not, everyone is welcome to join us.

After the service, we will be 'switching on' its lights to represent the lives of those who are much loved and missed. The names of those who have had a dedication made in their memory will also be projected onto the front of the Cathedral building, after the service.

All services are free, open to everyone regardless of faith.

Could you spare a few hours a week to make a difference in your local community?

We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join our four charity shops in Guildford.

Guildford High Street – A treasure trove of pre-loved artwork, antiques, furniture and unique upcycled pieces. Perfect for anyone with an eye for something special!

Quarry Street – Help us give pre-loved clothing, accessories and other donated treasures a new lease of life.

Phoenix Court– Join our friendly shop team, helping customers discover bargains and keeping our shelves stocked with wonderful finds.

Pew Corner – From clothing and books to furniture and homeware, there's plenty to get involved with, including helping at our donation centre.

Whether you love meeting new people, have a passion for fashion, art or antiques, want to gain experience for your CV, or are hoping to return to the workplace after a career break, we'd love to hear from you.

No experience is needed, and with flexible shifts from just two hours, volunteering can fit around your other commitments.

Every hour you give helps us raise vital funds to provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care for patients and families across West Surrey and North-East Hampshire.

Our Listening Lounge sessions offer a relaxed, compassionate space for people whose loved one was cared for by Phyllis Tuckwell to spend time with others who understand bereavement.

Whether it has been weeks, months or years since your bereavement, there’s a seat for you.

The famous St Thomas on the Bourne Christmas Market returns again this year on Saturday 28th November, 10am-2pm.

Decorations, crafts, gifts, homemade delicacies, handbags, toys, indoor plants, tombola, raffle, silent auction and more! This year there is even an Elf Hunt for children!

All of the proceeds support Phyllis Tuckwell and the upkeep of the St Thomas' building.

Registration for our Santa & Elf Fun Run is open!

Don't miss the chance to sign up to run a festive 5k or 2k run in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell and if you sign up before the 31st October, you get our special, early bird pricing.

Grab your running shoes, your festive spirit and take part in this fun-filled family event.
