Farnham Andernach Friendship Association

Farnham Andernach Friendship Association A membership association that links local Farnham residents with residents in Andernach, Farnham's twin town on the Rhine in Germany. What do we do?

We are a membership organisation and the cost to join is £20 per family. We are a membership organisation and the cost to join is £10 per person due in January each year. About Andernach
Andernach, a town of some 30,000 residents is one of the oldest towns in Germany, founded by the Romans as ‘Antunnacum’ in 12BC on an old Celtic settlement site. It is a picturesque town with medieval remnants of

the old town fortifications and picturesque old buildings. The town is situated 13 miles north of Koblenz, on the
River Rhine, just a few hundred metres downstream of the romantic Middle Rhine. Annual visits take place over a weekend and are the highlight of the calendar. One year our German friends will come to Farnham and the next we travel to
Andernach. When in Germany we stay in the homes of our German hosts who arrange a variety of outings, get-togethers and entertainment. There is always a
warm welcome and generous hospitality. Although hosting is not an obligation it can be extremely rewarding if you have the space and can accommodate. When our German friends are here we organise a weekend programme with visits and a dinner. It is always a lot of fun and it’s a unique experience. In Andernach we have visited local vineyards, the Andernach geyser, Cologne Cathedral and the Lindt
Chocolate Factory. We usually visit when the town music festival is on and this is a highlight.
