As our crews head over to the beautiful Isles of Scilly in preparation for four days of competition in the World Pilot Gig Championships 2026 the excitement has been building.
We are very proud of all thirteen entered crews we have entered.
In addition to those pictured we have our Ladies Super Vets B crew rowing in Ginette and for the first time we have an Under 25 crew.
Good luck to all competing and we shall see you on the start line!

What an amazing day racing thanks to all at Falmouth Pilot Gig Club. A brilliant sprint event to get us all in race mode again in prep for the 🌍 World Championships.
All our crews who raced had two heats and moved up, down, or stayed in the middle heat for their second race.

Men’s V: 5th
Men’s M: 7th
Women’s SV: 2nd
Women’s M: 6th
MA: 3rd
MB: 9th
LA: 1st
LB: 8th

⭐️ JUNIORS AWARDS ⭐️

On Friday night, our Juniors held their awards dinner. An excitable group of juniors (+ parents/guardians) descended on Country Skittles for the evening…

Well done to all the juniors, cadets and mini-juniors who have had a go, taken part and got stuck in this year….

Coach Steve has shared the following:

It was difficult to single out juniors for an award when they are collectively a great squad and develop week by week. They train regularly and enthusiastically despite many other commitments, poor weather and challenging sea conditions - nothing do stops
This year the juniors competed in:
Hayle U14 finishing 4th.
Newquay U16 getting into the semi-finals.
3 juniors took part in the Newquay Women’s Champs.
4 juniors in the County Champs all winning with their Cornwall crews.

They took part in Regattas at:
Roseland
Caradon
Falmouth
Mounts Bay
Coverack
Cadgwith
Devoran
Fowey
Head of the River Race

Junior Development Award - girl: she took part in the development squad training, she has become a more consistent and stronger rower and is now confident in all positions including stroke.
She has taken part in summer events, Newquay U16 and is in the 25U crew for the Scillies next year.
Bluebell Hall

Junior Development Award - boy: we feel that this should be a joint award to two boys who are regular attendees of both junior rowing and weight training at Jolly Sailor. Their rowing, power and commitment have improved dramatically. They have again taken part in summer events, Hayle U14 and many wet and windy training sessions.
Joe Saker and Matthew Jago

Junior of the Year: we decided again this must be a shared award for two rowers who have over the last year attended the most junior sessions and competitions; are always willing to stay and help with the fledgling newbies, fill in for adult crews when necessary and the regularly attend development squad training.
They always add a level of enthusiasm, noise and chaos to the sessions but are also very good rowers. Holly Sedgwick and Floss Wild
