🚨 Community Emergency Hubs are community-run spaces where local people can come together to support one another and take swift, safe and effective action in those crucial early moments before emergency services arrive.

Devon Communities Together is providing a FREE Community Emergency Hub kit to 100 communities across the county (first come first served). To be eligible for a kit you need to do three things:
1️⃣ Interested community members should attend an online workshop (link below)
2️⃣ A suitable location within the community must be agreed and identified
3️⃣ The community should be notified about the hub

Join one of the FREE sessions (6pm - 7pm on the 3rd June or 1pm - 2pm on the 10th June) to find out more about Community Emergency Hubs, and you will be one step closer to creating a more resilient and prepared community 💚

Call for more volunteer road wardens in Devon as scheme marks 10th anniversary ⭐

We know volunteers are at the heart of resilient communities. From emergency planning to supporting neighbours during severe weather and local incidents, community volunteers help Devon stay connected, prepared and supported.

Road wardens help with simple but important tasks like clearing drains, reporting issues and helping keep local roads safe in their communities. It’s a great example of local people making a real difference where they live.

If you would like to play a practical role in helping your community, now could be the perfect time to get involved 💙

With only a few weeks to go until the “VCSEs Driving Devon’s Digital Inclusion Together” free event, we've already got some fantastic organisations coming along to collaborate on tackling digital exclusion here in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay - but there's still time for YOU to book your space and be part of this important conversation!

“VCSEs Driving Devon’s Digital Inclusion Together” is a free event in Exeter on 23rd July, bringing together VCSE organisations, community leaders and partners to explore how we can collectively tackle digital exclusion across Devon.

This event offers an opportunity to:
• Share experiences and best practice
• Discuss barriers to digital access and confidence
• Build cross-sector partnerships
• Explore practical, community-led solutions

If your organisation works within the VCSE, community development, education, digital skills or inclusion sectors (or has ambitions to in the future), this is your opportunity to connect and collaborate.

It's that time of the week again when we share a look through a Rural Lens and while we usually have a video, this time we're sharing the perspective of someone not keen on being in front of camera - which is absolutely no problem. Everyone is welcome to look through the Rural Lens in whichever way they wish 🙂

So...what's the East Devon village of Lympstone like according to this resident? As with most places, there are positives and negatives ...
😃It's a lovely, friendly village
😃There are clubs to suit everyone such as gardening, tennis, football, crafting, art, choir, pilates, yoga, martial arts, bell-ringing, and ladies' and men's groups.
😃We've a village hall for community use and for birthday parties, film society, and drama productions.
😃There are footpaths which lead to green spaces, where we can observe the wildlife, as well as a cycle path, and allotments
😃We've only 1 pub as the other 3 have closed, and that's a shame! The cafe is doing well with the new owners though!

😔There's too much traffic already and this will get worse with the development of new residential properties.
😔 I worry about the safety of children walking and cycling in Lympstone. I'm a cyclist, but I get cross when cyclists go too fast.
😔Potholes!
