In July and August we have a single service at 10:30am. Newington Trinity is part of the Church of Scotland standing in the Reformed Tradition. But we are glad to share with people of other traditions and, whoever you are, you would receive a warm welcome. Come and join us! We have two sites; one on Mayfield Road, which is our principal place of worship, and also on Dalkeith Road, just a few metre

s down from the Commonwealth Pool and Pollock Halls of Residence. We are always seeking ways in which we can serve the community around us. There’s lots to do and we can always use extra people to help us. At the moment we have two services on Sunday mornings, a more family oriented one at 9:30am and one in a traditional style at 10:45am. AFTERNOON SERVICE
Our next afternoon worship service will be at NT - Mayfield on Tuesday 1 September at 2:30pm.
This will be a short service followed by light refreshments and chat until around 3.45 pm. If you haven't been before why not give it a try? You'll be made most welcome.
There is level access via the West Mayfield door.

CAFE TIME
Our next Cafe Time is on Saturday 5 September from 10am till 12noon at NT - Priestfield. Come on your own or with friends and relax over a coffee, cake and a chat.

A world renowned Christian sculptor is in Edinburgh next week to share insights into his powerful Homeless Jesus statue.

Canadian Timothy Schmalz will discuss the installation which is based outside St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral in Broughton Street.

The bronze sculpture depicts Jesus Christ sleeping on a park bench, with the wounds of the Crucifixion visible on his feet.

Since its installation the sculpture has encouraged passers-by to pause, reflect and consider the dignity of people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Scotland’s capital.

He said: “If you’re homeless, one of the first things you lose is your sense of self worth.
“This sculpture symbolically reclaims it in a sense by saying that, if Jesus came down today he would hang out with you not the politicians and not the billionaires.”

Timothy will join visitors at the Cathedral on Tuesday 18 August at 11am to reflect on the inspiration behind his work, the relationship between faith and art, and the message of compassion and hope at the heart of his sculptures. The event is free.

A concert at the Cathedral on Monday 17 August at 7.30pm forms part of a documentary film project being produced in collaboration with the Grassmarket Community Project, Bethany Christian Trust, St Catherine’s Convent of Mercy, and Edinburgh Street Pastors. Tickets are £15 for adults and £10 for children.

The concert by the Schola Cantorum presents a programme of choral music exploring themes of homelessness, marginalisation, mercy and hope.
