Operation Heart Start are pleased to support the installation of another in Wormit fully funded for the community by Lodge Tay Union 273.
With further thanks to Cllr. Allan Knox & Cllr. Jonny Tepp working for Tay Bridgehead for promoting community resilience and SPAR Wormit for hosting the Philips defibrillator.
I was pleased to meet members of Lodge Tay Union 273 this evening to mark the commissioning of a new community defibrillator, located at the entrance to the Spar store in Wormit.
The unit has been funded through the tremendous fundraising efforts of the Lodge, with support from Grand Lodge, and will provide an additional life-saving resource for local residents and visitors.

This new installation complements a number of other defibrillators already available locally. Importantly, it will be registered on The Circuit, the national defibrillator database used by the Scottish Ambulance Service and emergency call handlers to direct members of the public and ambulance crews to the nearest available defibrillator during a cardiac emergency.
Although there is already a defibrillator at the nearby tennis club, around 200 metres away, this additional unit improves public access and resilience within the community. Training and support have also been provided through Operation Heartstart.
A huge thank you to everyone involved for their efforts in helping make Wormit a safer place. You never know when a defibrillator may be needed, but when it is, having one close by can save a life.
