We’re sharing a few tears and memories this morning at SCVO at the sad news that Dolly Parton has died.

The Queen of Country was a special part of the Gathering in 2022 when our members the Dollywood Foundation Dolly Parton's Imagination Library came along to share the message about their brilliant work in Scotland.

Dolly shared a special message to our delegates that day about the importance of the voluntary sector, the impact it has on our communities and working to make the world a better place. Dolly said “Let’s put some wings on these dreams” and told us all to get to work!

So that’s exactly what we’ll do.
Thank you, Dolly.

We're looking at how SCVO celebrates and promotes Scotland's voluntary sector, and we want to hear from you, whether you've applied to the Scottish Charity Awards before or not.

What would recognition mean for your organisation? Is there a better way we could be telling the sector's story?

88% of charities now use AI, up from 76% last year. But what does that actually mean for the sector?

Join us for our next free DigiShift session on 25th August at 10am with digital expert Zoe Amar, who will unpack the key findings from the Charity Digital Skills Report 2026.

Drawing on responses from more than 800 charities, Zoe will explore how charities are using AI in their daily work, the digital skills and capacity gaps that remain, the role of leadership in driving digital change and what organisations can do to build digital confidence and make the most of new technology.

If you're a digital lead, frontline worker, senior leader or trustee, this session will offer practical insights to help you understand what the findings mean for your organisation.

Fair Funding isn't just a sector issue, it affects communities across Scotland.

Whether it's tackling child poverty, improving health outcomes, supporting volunteers, delivering social care or addressing the climate emergency, voluntary organisations are helping achieve Scotland's national priorities every day.

Yet many organisations are still operating within funding systems that make long-term planning difficult and create uncertainty for staff, volunteers and the people they support.

Our Fair Funding resource explores the impact across a wide range of sectors and policy areas.

Find the sections most relevant to your work, and see why sustainable funding matters: https://buff.ly/zw4bSo9

Yesterday we launched our Fair Funding resource, bringing together evidence, experiences and voices from across the sector to show why Fair Funding is urgently needed.

Fair Funding means a funding landscape that is fair, flexible, sustainable and accessible. It includes longer-term funding, unrestricted funding, timely payments, processes that are easier to navigate, funding that keeps pace with rising costs, and proportionate reporting requirements.

SCVO's Jason Henderson outlines why we already know that Fair Funding is desperately needed, and what others can do to support our calls.

Scotland's voluntary sector is at the heart of our communities. Every day, organisations are tackling poverty, supporting health and wellbeing, strengthening local communities and delivering essential services.
